Internet Browsers

It depends on your purpose of use.

I run chrome for most things. It's light and quick. I'm also a big fan of modular tabbing, on page download statuses, etc.

I use IE exclusively to connect to my VPN portal launch site for work. It's garbage for everything else.

I use firefox if I'm going to need to do "power surfing", i.e. anything that requires an extension, namely a download helper or noscript. I don't use mouse gestures, or any other extensions for firefox due to being fast fingered, but they are always there if you enjoy a lot of custom tools in your browser.

Chrome is perfect for light browsing, like Wiki, Fark, slashdot and the like.

Firefox is good for heavy browsing (research, multi-tab browsing, etc) and also is unmatched in modability. The only drawback is that it quickly becomes a giant memory hog.

IE8 is good because it's relatively memory-light, but is still decent for power browsing. I haven't used it in a while, so I won't make any judgment one way or the other.

I've yet to use Safari, so I can't say much about it.

I actually prefer Chrome for multi-tab browsing. Each tab is a separate thread, so a crash caused by content on a page won't take down the whole browser. And the one time you really need it, recover tabs won't work in Firefox. Plus, you can drag a tab out of the main window if you want to separate out subjects by main window or something like that.

IE8, at least the version package with W7 still feels way too sluggish. Maybe it's a beta thing (assuming it's actually still a beta product)

Chrome for everything now-a-days...

but firefox is better for loading multiple tabs...

IE can suck it...

Safari, isn't that bad at all, it's a good mix between all of them minus firefox's ability to be so highlt customizable
