ttaM
Computer. Now I get to wait and stare at it until 4 cause it's here at my work. No DVD drive yet so :/
vandium
You have to put it together and install the OS? Congrats btw, its about time.
ttaM
Hehe. Yeah I'll put it together tonight. I can't instal the OS cause I have no disk drive! It's coming from CA everything else was from NJ. I might go pick one up from Staples and return it tomorrow after I install the OS lol.
Wingless
I miss working in our support organization, because it gave me enough time to build entire computers on one of the benches in my cube. I just had to toss it in the trunk and install an OS when I got home. Also, getting paid for personal tasks.
vandium
I havn't had a floppy drive since the 90's. Why would you need a floppy to install the OS? You are living in the past man! You can make a bootable cd. You can also boot from the OS cd.
ttaM
That's what I mean I think? It's the DVD burner drive thing fag. I have the OS on a disk but the DVD burner drive thing is coming from California. Therefore I won't be able to install the OS. Forgive me if I'm completely wrong and forgive me for using the wrong terminology.
ttaM
Answer?
vandium
If you are going to have a cdrom or a dvdrom, (not burner) then you can boot from the OS cd.
ttaM
Does my case come with something like that? Clark sent me a Xp pro SP3 disk but I thought I needed the samsung dvd burner whatever drive I got or else there'd be a hole in my case. vandium
I doubt the case includes a cdrom. I am almost sure that windows XP will be on a cdrom. (unless clark put it on a dvd, you will need a dvd rom)
RetiredTacos
If you are going to have a cdrom or a dvdrom, (not burner) then you can boot from the OS cd. Any XP or vista ISO is by default a bootable CD. XP fits on a CD, vista needs a DVD. Pick up that CD rom from staples and return it later

Its nice having more than one cd/dvd drive.
ttaM
Okay I'll run over to staples and gran a cd rom in about 20 mins when I'm off work. I wanna hang myself and tie my genitals with the same rope after staring at my case and the rest of my shit all day in the corner of the stock room. :/
vandium
Maybe you can hang your tower from your genitals....eh?
ttaM
Dude I've seen what fa****s hang from their nuts, I'm not a fan. They tie weights and stuff, hell no. I've tried weighing down my prolapsed sphyncter, that hurt.
vandium
You should probably stay away from those fag sites, they will give you some ideas. BTW, that dude that sat on that glass jar, he post a picture of himself. lol
ttaM
0.o! Staples only had DVD drives, for $90 lol. Mine from newegg was $23, btw I'm pissed off because my keyboard came and my shitty laptop doesn't have a PS/2 slot.
vandium
Just buy it and take it back like Terry said. You should get two though. Maybe a Burner and a Reader. $90 for a DVD reader, non write? Doesn't sound right.
ttaM
I don't know, I only have $105 in my bank account and if I get that shit for $90 then I'm screwed.
Wingless
No kidding. That's way too expensive, considering I got a burner for 20 or 30 bucks from newegg, and it works pretty damned well. Some people like to have a reader drive to keep just reads on one drive to minimize wear on your more expensive burner. I only have a dvd burner on my computer right now, but it's nice to have two for burn on the fly if you plan on copying disks. I usually keep ISOs unless I need to free up some disk space, so it's not really a need for me anymore.
ttaM
This is one of the 2 I saw there, once again this is "all they have" http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p1_Memorex-20X-External-Double-Layer-DVD-Drive-with-LightScribe-trade_195308_Business_Supplies_10051_SEARCH
Wingless
It's an external. That would be part of the reason. That and lightscribe drives up the price a bit for being cool. Anyway, you're probably going to want an internal drive (in the case) so I'd suggest maybe hitting walmart or meijers or whatever you happen to have around if you plan on buying on today. They don't have great hardware, but they do have it.

Electronic stores will have more brands, and cheaper prices on electronics. BTW, that is a read and write.
