Any Progressive Rock/Metal fans here?

I know a lot of music these days seems to be overly populated by pop, hip/hop, rap, and most recently dubstep.. but there are still good old classic/prog rock fans out there, and i'd love to see who around here are these fans. I myself prefer real composers and musicians making intricate and complicated music. I also play drums and have a set in my basement i love to play frequently. So if you are one of these fans, (or just wanna stop by for whatever reason :amuse: ) post here what artists you listen to, and some songs.

Some of my favorite prog rock bands are: Yes, Rush, Kansas, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and Transatlantic.

My favorite prog metal bands are : Dream Theater, Tool, Liquid Tension Experiment and Opeth.

i also love classic rock and regular metal like the beatles, boston, a7x, Led Zeppelin, Queen, the who, styx, iron maiden, van halen, the eagles ,ect(i could go on)

Here are some of my favorite prog rock/ prog metal songs you should check out if you don't know them:

dream theater has so many great songs with different styles its impossible to capture them in just 2.

that ^ song may start out strange but just listen, its great.(there is a part 2)

Dream Theater, Tool, and Yes have to be my three favorite... there are so many songs it was hard to choose just those but since progressive songs are SO long, (not to me of course), these should be enough.

If you want some more song suggestions just let me know i'd be glad to post some!

PLEASE --- If you don't like this music for whatever reason, just don't post.. ALSO don't bash other music, everyone has their opinions there's no need.

piscian - how does DT and yes barely pass? --- emerson lake and palmer i have there - pinnacle of prog rock. (btw i LOVE king crimson) you know bruford ( drummer for yes) also played for KC right? DT does the most for progressive i've ever seen. their constant changes and odd time sigs are amazing. im listening to the first video you posted and i absolutely love it.

Yes was one of the first bands ( along with king crimson and ELP to pioneer prog rock. while i can unstand what youre saying with yes, their 70's stuff is mostly prog. After the band broke up they turned to shit without bruford.)

how isnt this prog rock?

did you take a look at that liquid tension experiment live video? thats more of a mix but theres definitely a lot of prog in there.

edit: what would you define as prog then good sir?
