Built this nice new shiny computer thingy and when I try to turn it on, the motherboard led turns on for a split second and my cpu fan goes on for a split second but then it shuts off for no reason... Weeman Posted December 11, 2011 Share Posted December 11, 2011 check yo cables. and when you're done check em again if that don't work then possibly a bad mobo, if it was a bad PSU it wouldn't be turning on at all, unless of course you hear the PSU's fan kick off before anything else. Had a similar issue today and it turned out it was this, definitely make sure your CPU is seated correctly and that there are no bent pins. There is a corner of your CPU that should be colored in that looks like an arrow, match it up with the colored in corner on the cpu socket that also looks like an arrow.
