Lol constitution?! Whats that?! ROFLROFLROFLROFL, USA, turning Communist one day at a time.

kinda this..

Sucks for me cause whatever they do or don't do in the USA almost immediately affect most of the things we (are allowed to) do in Belgium.

Real Short: SOPA isn't as big of a deal as everyone and Anon are blowing it up to be. My dad is a supervising agent in the FBI's counter-terrorism unit in DC and he's told me that SOPA is STRICTLY for anti-terrorism and sedition purposes. Just because a few congressmen have no idea how to speak proper English and are speaking words into the bill that aren't there doesn't mean this is some apocalyptic law that will mean the end of the internet. Case and point: If you're not being a fucking idiot with what you do on the internet, you're fine.

As for Senator Sanders, his rhetoric is amazing. I don't quite agree with all of his views (he's got a few whacky ideas about the role of socialist values in Democracy are), but here he is dead on. Citizens United is a travesty to American democracy, and is hopefully on its way to being re-evaluated.

Seriously, SOPA is not the first of it's type to go through Congress and it won't be the last. The entertainment industry should get protected from U.S. and foreign pirates. A hundred years ago, many authors and musicians died poor because they had all their works stolen from people. For that, Congress made Copyright Laws to protect them. Now in the age of internet allowing users to share and download whatever they want, authors and musicians find their work getting stolen again like a hundred years ago.

Besides, the government wouldn't shut down those big corporations like Google or Youtube. Right?

Why wouldnt they shut down those corporations. This bill gives them every right to, and have you looked at some of the artists opinions? Almost every single major artist has said this bill shouldnt go through. It isn't about protecting the artists royalties thats for sure.

First, I call bullshit. Where there is room for abuse, abuse will be done.

Second, it doesn't matter if the FBI alleges that they're not going to abuse SOPA, it's the fact that the wording of the bill ALLOWS abuse. Congressional supporters refused even the slightest changes to wording for the sake of clarity during their talks. All the while, there were reports of content industry representatives being seen in areas where they had no right to be. If you don't see that as a huge red flag, you're missing the picture entirely. SOPA deliberations were suspended because nobody had any fucking idea what they were talking about, and they wanted to pass it anyway. The supporters didn't get expert input on what they were hazy on, and most of them don't know the difference between a URL and an IP address.

This bill has nothing to do with protecting artists. This bill is a bunch of Hollywood executives complaining that their pockets aren't as thick as they should be. I agree with Wingless as well. All Congress does is create more crap that impinges on our rights, and I say that from a Democrat's point of view. Like the Patriot Act and all that other BS.
