Clark
Every gun has a serial number when it is manufactured. If a gun is stolen, from a dealer or private owner, they can provide that # to the authorities. Anytime a dealer takes in a pre-owned gun, he is supposed to check the serial # against this list. That is already law. We have a friend who purchased a rifle from a dealer. Detectives showed up at his house 6 months later. Turned out the gun was stolen. Dealer had it on his sales records. First of all, the dealer got into trouble with the law about not checking the gun against "the list". Second he almost got himself into a lawsuit because he is not supposed to keep a record of who he sold what to.
John
I think we should get rid of all guns, and use swords...
RetiredTacos
There should never be a gun registry or "owner id". Then the criminals would know who to rob, rape, and maim first. The criminals are going to have guns no matter what the law. Don't make it harder for the law-abiding citizen to protect himself. Once there are any type of "gun control laws" in place, they are just a stepping stone to curtail more of our freedoms. Clark, you're the man. Clark
Thank you. We are a 2nd amendment family here. 4 out of 4 people in the house could find the gun, load the gun, and shoot anyone's ass who came to my house with harsh intentions. Well, my daughter I'm not so sure about. That still leaves 3/4, lol.

Street Lethal
Half of what Clark says and all of what Lamp says are what make this thread worthwhile. As a lifelong Libertarian - though I do side with Democrats more than Republicans - I would like to point out that having either McCain or Obama as President would have been alright. I find it extremely disappointing that people here stand and criticize Obama for what he's done so far, in these short 5 months. He's a good President who KNOWS what he is doing. Or at least he hires the EXPERTS that know what they're doing. McCain wouldn't have done any differently and he would be just as successful in saving this economy. As for guns I love 'em! Looking into some ownership when I get a little older . But Clarky-poo-poo why would the government take away our guns? When has that EVER HAPPENED. Even anti-gun Presidents/lawmakers/judges haven't done that nor will they. As far as I'm concerned it's still legal to own as many guns as you want (this may be really naive lol). That point is moot and STOOPID and nobody should even bring that up as an argument. Legislation comes and goes but it won't ever be that STOOPID. SLIGHTLY STOOPID. I'm going to their concert soon yay! As for our debt LOL at our grandchildren. BUT, it was gonna happen with McCain anyways, and he doesn't deny it. I agree we shouldn't be looking at universal healthcare and all that stuff NOW - maybe later, but simple economic theory states that the only way to get out of a recession is to spend and increase your GDP. I should know this I'm studying business and economics next year in college. IN NEW YORK. NEXT TO LAMP. SO I CAN STALK HIM ALL DAY. Anyone want me to say hi for them? Clark
If we didn't get Bush in office to repeal the bans that Clinton put in place, who knows what kind of launch pad Obama would have started with. This is stretching, but I have to say it. You know who else banned all lawful citizens from owning guns to "protect" society from itself? Hitler. Right now they are looking at outlawing semi-automatic weapons. Some people would say, "Great! Let's get those dangerous guns out of circulation, so they can't hurt anyone!" The problem is that they would also be taking away almost every kind of hunting and sport shooting rifle there is. But only from the people who obey the laws. Once they start telling us what kind of ammunition we can or can't buy. That turns into what kind of gun we can or can't buy. Dangerous. Lol, I'm sorry guys. Don't mean to rant. btw Work still sucks. Clark, Hitler did a lot of things. You could take every president and find something he did that's in comparison to Hitler's plans. Also, as I've stated before, Obama isn't the be-all, end-all voice of everything. He can't even introduce bills. That's the job of the legislature. Just like Bush wasn't the one to introduce the PATRIOT ACT. Hell, he didn't see most of the provision until AFTER the midnight session. As for the guns thing, I think the government needs to narrow the beam a bit on what constitutes guns that should be monitored (though I personally think that semi-autos kill the sport of hunting). You can't just put a mass ban on every semi-auto and call it a day.
Wingless
My pistol allows me to defend myself or my loved ones in the event that someone that IS NOT living within the confines of the law comes in and tries to cause harm for them. Criminals will always have guns, and if we end up in a situation like Britain or Canada when it comes to firearms, the bad guys will be the ones with the upper hand over the lawful citizen. Especially when everyone knows that as much as our boys in blue are there to protect us, they can't be everywhere at once, and it's going to take some time to get a black and white to your house if you call for one. You have to be able to take some responsibility for your wellbeing and not leave it all to others. There is also a redefinition of switch blades coming through the customs office that will in effect, cause a serious legal stigma against most blades that can be opened with one hand. This is MOST folding knives. I could go into all of the practical (and safety) reasons why one handed knives are more of a tool than a weapon, but I'm sure you can figure it out on your own. A slippery slope, I tell you.

I doubt if McCain was elected the gun laws/pushes would be any different, I wouldn't point the blame at Obama so much. Fact is most of the government officials want to take our weapons away. It's already been getting really hard to get ammo for some weapons. has been for several months. I don't understand the point of outlawing weapons automatic or semi automatic, if someone wants to kill/shoot your ass, it only takes 1 bullet. Fucking government and politics annoys me greatly. Clark
It's already been getting really hard to get ammo for some weapons. has been for several months. The real reason it is hard to find ammo is because everyone and their brother are buying it up in anticipation of the ammo and weapon restrictions that are being pushed so hard in congress. Hoarders. I Love Lamp
That's because America is for the most part stupid. Ammo won't be restricted. Unless you really want a box of cop killers. If so, I hope you fucking burn in hell.
