What has happened to music?

I don't know what everyone else thinks, but I personally believe that music has plummeted downhill over the last few years. Why can't we go back to meaningful music? The 80's was amazing. 90's was just fantastic for me, as that was the music that I was brought up on.

This is a few examples of the music from my childhood. We need to go back to music like this -

Phil Collins - Another Day In Paradise

No Mercy - Where Do You Go

Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To You?

Haddaway - What Is Love

Technology progresses, and as such music becomes more accessible. As was seen with Ballet after the French Court, this accessibility can make way for mediocrity. Box-toed shoes allowed any dancer to go "en pointe," instead of the best of the best. Synthesizers and software based instruments allow anyone who can work a computer to make music. On the one hand this allows for a greater range of creativity. On another, this lowers the bar (or to some completely removes it) for what "good music" is. Comparing today's music to that of a previous time is like comparing the U.S. Navy Seals to the Roman Centurions. Apples to Oranges. Me to Enigma. One may be better, but it's because there is a competitive disadvantage for the other (I'm Korean, its not fair).

Plus, the 90s had it's own failures among it's triumphs. Such as...

Though frankly, I consider these part of my childhood as well. XD

Janurary 1st, 2000. The day that music died. (for the most part)

I used to hate rap with autotuners, cause they wouldnt ryhme, and I thought that there was no way music could get lazier.

And then fucking dubstep was created.

I dont care if some jackass with a giant mickey mouse looking head can make lyricless music with Garage Band. It fucking sucks. All of it.

How can music get lazier? We will see in about 5-10 years.

Well i grew up with AC/DC and Guns n Roses, but now i mostly like dubstep because i just simply dont like hearing the singing and all and im mostly into instrumentals and stuff. Just more relaxing and when you turn it down its nice for some background noise.

Not to be mean but Phil Collins is the Sammy Hagar of Genesis. I refuse to discuss music anymore because no one will know what I'm talking about.

oingo boingo, peter gabriel.

except Mike.

Also two more two words

Todd Rundgren adrian belew

Not looking forward to the day Enya or Annie lennox dies and it doesn't end up on the news -___-. Too bad they won't die of drug OD's like "real" rock stars. No news coverage for them.

BTW get this BLOWFISH is still alive. Bet you don't know who that is or why he's not dead.
