Bellicus Posted March 5, 2012 Share Posted March 5, 2012 Dark, I'm going to talk to you from a GSP Standpoint, First off, If you have your machine rented with a host or in colo you should fine for the most part, but i wouldn't expect the best from Q9300 as my company learned the hard way when we expanded into New York, We had around 14-16 servers on our 9300 which hit around 5GB used. but we had to upgrade the machine completely because of performance issues. During peak hours we would hit around 30-40% cpu usage. So i wouldn't expect more then 8-10 to be safe but you will notice cpu usage like a french hooker with that many servers at 24-40 slots maxed would run you around 15% cpu minimum. If you have money to spend ask your host if they have any Harpertowns, Westmeres, or even a sandy Bridge laying around as you will get better performance.
