I need help

When I do a search on google or any other engine it brings up the search results. That is good, but when I click on any link it redirects me to a totally seperate site. If I lay the cursor over the link it says the correct link. But, when I actually click on it, it says "waiting for "ipaddress"(can't remember the addy), then hits me with another site.

I saw you remove his phonetrace link because you thought it linked to a porn site. But I think you have got a sort of spyware/adware installed on your computer.

This is why you are being redirected to other shit.

I used a program called "Adaware", it seemed to work. But these are tricky to download too, because there are a lot of fake floating around that actually give you adware or viruses.

You also need to run a virus scan, I hope you currently have an anti-virus software installed.

lol@ Crothers.

Also, if you're using Internet Explorer, stop and use Firefox, because Microsoft announced that IE isn't safe anymore due to a big hole in their programming. (because they ****ing suck) So alot of virusy stuff happens with IE. If you're using Firefox Crothers is probably right and Richie has been going to porn sites on your comp. =P

OR YOU HAVE!

1) Always have an anti-virus with real-time protection.

2) Always keep that up to date.

3) Never download files that are executables. (Never open files straight from the source, always download to harddrive first. This goes for almost all things you download, and don't know the source.)

4) Never click things that don't make sense.

*You have a virus click here to remove it*

*You are number blah blah to win blah blah click here*

Always close these type of pop-ups and windows with "ALT+F4". They also create fake buttons and X's, so that you will click them, because they say no, cancel, or close. But truly clicking anywhere in the window will have the same effect.

Alt-F4 closes the current window/program, this combo should be used to close all unknown source windows/screens.

Some websites might cover your entire screen, and in the case alt-f4 does not work, alt+ctrl+del and close internet explorer.

These are things most people know, but these will keep you from getting infected again. I am sure Richie just decided to use your comp to check out porn, very wise.

Only program I use is Norton Anti-virus, and it has never failed me, and stops attempts on my computer that would have otherwise gone un-noticed.

Ok, I'm going to try to answer all of the points.

1.If I put the address into the addy bar it goes correctly.

2.It does not send me to the same site each time. Just now, I had it send me to Yahoo Jobs, Flowtv, and octanetv, respectively.

3.I use Norton, keep it up to date. There is one problem though, when I try to scan any certain files on the pc, it says scan is complete but it didn't scan a thing. If I do a full system scan,(does scan files and folders this time) it completes the scan and says no problems are found.

4.I use Spybot. Keep it up to date.

5.I use Adaware. Keep it up to date. Try to scan everyday.

6.I use Firefox.

If I can't figure it out, there is the always reliable, Dell PC Restore by Symantec. I have used this option before but it is just a pain to reload everything onto the pc.

Thanks guys for the advice.

So I am guessing you are still having the problem?

Install adaware just to do a scan, then remove it if you don't want it.?

Maybe try a windows system restore to yesterday?

This will not remove anything on your computer, and it will just go back to the day you had everything running fine. But anything installed after the restore date is obviously lost. (including the fagware)

I got somthing like this a year or so ago. I would remove it with adaware, then scan with norton and it not find anything else. Then I would reboot, and it would reinstall/execute somthing still on my computer and then I was at square one. I did the whole process a few times before I just reformatted.

But I did not have system restore active, you might try that.

Good Luck, I hate that shit....but it sounds like thats what you have. (maybe not to the extent of a hidden executable)

EDIT: You might want to re-install norton as well, but thats up to you, and how you think your norton is acting.

Starting over with PC restore.

:pwned::pwned::pwned::pwned::

You have included 18 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the BB code tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.

That sucks, but its good that you caught it. Trojans are no joke, especially if you are doing banking or other sensitive shit.

I once had a guy use my harddrive as his own personal drive. I was browsing my windows folder and found a folder named "Music". He had over 50gigs of full album mp3's on my HD.

lawls

He was nice enough not to screw my computer up though, so I will give him that.

i know ppl dont like to hear it, but the only way i would feel comfortable dealing with a situation like this is to save all my important files to a separate backup hard drive and then reformat.

if you decide to do that, once u get it back up and running, the first thing u should do is install antivirus and do a full scan of your backup hard drive, before opening or using any of the files on there.

everyone has an opinion when it comes to antivirus, so i might as well throw up my preference too: Anti-Vir. it's free and its good
