This all starts out with a cable company.

Great Plains Communications in Nebraska.

We go there and get internet. 3Meg. It's to small so we upgrade to 5 Meg. oddly, still to small.

We upgrade to 10 Meg....

And see no over all change.

So i start doing speed tests. and I consistently get: 3.5 1.3.

So now that we are paying for 10 Meg service and still getting just getting nothing neer that.... we call and complain..

They tell us.. Oh.. your paying for up to 10 meg service... its not guaranteed that you will have 10 meg service.

We never ever have anything over 5

I'm thinking about calling back and asking a tech to come out and test our service with me standing there. then say if you dont get our service up to at least 8 - 9 meg were only going to pay you for what we get... or move to a different company.

Do you think this is crap too?

Fairly certain that's grounds for a lawsuit under not getting services you are paying for.

IE look at AT&T, they're getting sued for throttling data plans and forcing people to pay for services that were not rendered.

Its hard to get proof of throttling

Get comcast theyll throttle you, only a little and spy on you, but its good.

This syntax is really ichy

What do you mean 10 gig?

If you're talking about 10 gbps then yeah, issue right there. Most of the time youi won't get 10 gbps >.<

If you're talking about bandwidth, it's irrelevant to the throughput (which is measured in Kbps, Mbps, or Gbps, depending on service and server).

My parents have roadrunner (time warner cable) with high speed broadband or some shit. And it is amazing. They have good service too. I live in a area with a bukaki of squirrels and they fuck up the cables so much. And they fix it free of charge. No idea what the cost is though.

Although my parents pay the bill, we had wideopenwest and I haggled the fuck out of them with my parents. Theyre in a huge marketing struggle with comcast so they needed us to stay blah blah.

Personally, go look at their terms and conditions. See if you find anthing about service. If you dont, call them and be like hey what the fuck, in your terms and conditions blag blah blah.

If they dont pay up, contact a lawyer, might just make u some big bucks.

or, continue to take it in the butt. Kinda sucks tho either way, sorry to hear. Shit like that blows.

I'm sadly using DSL. I'm constantly disconnecting and running slowly. an average for me is 0.40 / 0.15 . Although a few times it has jumped up to around 2.5 / 0.50 . I was paying for a 3 MGB line. So, I've called and complained. They then asked me to run a speed test of their website..so I complied. It said that i was getting 3.5 /1.2 ..contradicting the two other sites i checked AND running slow. They told me there was nothing they could do because of what their website was saying...I also tried replacing my network card and the splitter i use. No go. I might go back to my other ISP and deal with their terrible costumer service .

I don't know if you already know this.

If you do a hard reset on your modem: taking out the battery[in most models there is a rechargeable battery located at the bottom of the modem, this will ensure a hard reset] and disconnecting the power cord, shutting down the router too, and anything else connected it may help with any problems you had as far as daily throttling goes.

I try to make it a habit of restarting my internet every one-two days since I upload a lot streaming.

Regardless of what your problem is, this can be your control to compare your internet to other users in your area.
