Well im trying to fix my computer and sending it in on Tuesday and what I was wondering if i should get a new video card if my computer is being slow. I'm pretty sure its not a virus and tonight im doing all these virus checks and defragments to make sure. ShinoPuppy Posted April 22, 2012 Share Posted April 22, 2012 If it's been more than two years since your last fresh install of windows, chances are the computer is just really badly junked up. Over time, the computer will bog down no matter how strict your maintenance regimen. If you have the technical know-how to do so, I suggest you do a fresh install of windows. If you're using Windows 7 this is incredibly easy since just popping in the disk and choosing install will automatically build a fresh copy but save all your files in WINDOWS.OLD on the root drive. If not, just try to un-install every program your not actively using and make sure things aren't booting on startup that don't need to be. Generally if you are randomly seeing slowness in your computer after having it for a period of time, it is usually either malware, or your hard drive is dying.
