What would you like to see in a post-apocalypse mmorpg?

 

I was looking up post-apocalypse games today and ended up finding that there were very very few good ones imo that I could find. I tend to be a little headstrong and just do things on a whim but I intend on investing some time into helping make a decent game. I've already got the majority of the story line covered as well as a basic outline of what I'm putting in no matter who says what xD

Then again...don't expect some bad ass apocalypse game to just come out of nowhere within the next few days...or months...or years....

This would be a fun project to play around with and I'm determined to at least try :)

  • A decent crafting system using stuff you scavenge and some type of interactive gathering system that isn't just gathering from a node.
  • Full loot or a server for real men that want full loot, no name tags, friendly fire.

a variance of ways to play and "complete" the game so not everyone has to do a particular storyline etc:)

 

Ah I've already got that one down :D I enjoy the idea of having different paths to take.

I'm still working out the details of the different quest lines but that was basically one of the first things I thought of it.

1. Game Masters. People that have played the games for a long enough time and have enough experience to be called upon to help newer players that are severally struggling.

 

2. An option for perma-death.

 

3. No huge clans, unless on a clan server. I.E: maybe a 4-16 person clan.

 

4. Honor system (Name it what you will). I.E: The more you betray other humans that have taken a life of humaneness, the more infamous you become. The worse your imfamy, to more likely it is you're targeted by bounty hunters.

 

5. A bounty hunter system. I.E: A NPC that keeps track of current bounties and that puts out bounties on recent boss spawns. It is more for infamous players that have been reported consistently. The more you're reported, the higher your bounty auto climbs. Players can also add to the bounty by manually adding funds.

 

6. (If a Zombie or Viral based one) An infection system. I.E: Being bitten, or being in a "green zone" without proper protective equipment will result in you being possibly infected. Failure to treat this infection will result in death.

 

7. A decent healing system. If aiming for a less serious game, you only need the correct supplies for the job. If aiming for a serious game, you must treat yourself. Failing to do so correctly, I.E overuse of certain drugs, or just dropping off of a drug like steroids, can result in severe sickness or even death. Also failing to treat broken or dislocated bones will result in a severe drop in ablities, and if you fail to treat a laceration, or just fail to clean it properly and bandage it, it gets infected and has a change to turn Gangrene.

 

That is all for now. I know it's a bit much and high expectations, but that is just my way.

Numbers 4, 6, and 7 I have already been slowly working out the details of.

So those will definitely be implemented if possible.

I really like 1 and 2 and will start thinking on those and number 3 hasn't even crossed my mind till now lol

I would like to see an MMORPG Fallout 3 (or New Vegas) for sure.

People tried their best to make an online mod but it didn't turn out well.

 

If it was an MMORPG, maybe a small clan server like our Minecraft server?

 

Also you can form gangs and stuff (like PERP :P)

 

Also a great crafting and combat system.

was gonna say for mobs, it depends on the storyline :P its gotta fit with the theme :P

 

Post apocalyptic= What you think in the modern world existed but then vanished...or returned.

 

Robotic apocalypse= Some sort of space-age shit

 

Zombie apocalypse= Still modern world mobs

 

A New Dark Age= Maybe somewhat not evolved like swordsman or spearsman

 

Just my idea for those "mobs"

Depending how far you are into the future, you could probably use androids or humanoid beings. Members of a type of cult could work. Godzilla.

I've always wanted an open ended survival type game. Find / build shelter/ get water/find food/ survive. Mine craft got close, but I'd like something more like a mix between minecraft and skyrim but with no direction. Or magic.

Not sure if this was already listed down cause ya know.. tl;dr but something like unique items as in luring zombies to a specific location so you can enter a certain area without having the problem of a zombie horde, or something like that. Also in what era would this zombie apocalypse be in? that way I could have a certain idea on what to work with to give out better ideas :l.
