My laptop won't charge

I have an ASUS G50V, and I've had it for a while, but it stopped working a while ago, I may have tried to use a different source of energy, that wasn't compatible/had more/less volts than the required amount. Well I'm trying to charge it with a universal adapter, and the adapter will make a *tick* *tick* noise, and won't charge the laptop. I figured, oh it might be the adapter, so I took it to the computer store right by my house, and we tried a different charger. It didn't work. So now I'm stuck. D:

I know it isn't the actual battery, because then it would still power on when it charger connected. The computer store told me it'd be $70 just to find out whats wrong (lolnofuckthatshit)

Try to reset the power settings in the BIOS of your computer? That helped for a little bit for me

It doesn't even turn on, it has no battery left.

It's almost always the battery

No, because if it was with the battery, and I connected it to the charger, it would work.

Alright Ron, you're gonna need a new battery, I know because with laptops, you can remove the battery and it will still stay powered as long as its plugged in, the battery's job is to provide power when the charger cant. This is how it charges. trust me, this is a battery issue.

If you have it charged in, the computer ignores the battery and lets it charge while it takes the power directly from the adapter. You can use a laptop without the battery even IN and connected to the adapter. It's your battery. Everyone here is saying the same thing because everyone here has had the same problem. It's your battery. If it's under warranty, get them to send you a new one. If it isn't... 20 bucks?
