Hey guys! I heard that some people were having trouble recording demos for ban reports and making ban reports in general, so I'm going to make a detailed guide on how to do this. To begin, you need 4 essential parts: The proof, the RP Status, the Forum/Steam Name of the player and the Steam ID of the player.

Let's start with the demo. First, make sure that you have the developer console is enabled so that you can start recording a demo. You can enable it by pressing the "Options" button on the GMod main menu and then under the "Keyboard" tab, click "Advanced..." and then check the box next to "Enable developer console". This allows for you to access the console while in-game using the tilde (or "~" key) on your keyboard.

After the following step is done, you need to go in-game and access the console by pressing the "~" key. You should see a black box with a huge wall of different colored text. From here, you want to type in the prompt bar: bind <insert key> "gm_demo" with the <insert key> being a key you don't currently have binded and one you will remember the command is bound to. (You can check if certain keys are already bound to something by typing bind <insert key>)

After you have bound said key, when you go in-game all you have to do is press that key and it will start recording a demo with the name of the map + the date and time it was taken. This makes it very easy for you guys to tell which demo is for a certain time frame in order to avoid confusion with demo names. After you have collected all of your evidence, you can press the key again to stop recording the demo.

Now, in order to find the demo without having to navigate through the Steam directories on your computer, all you have to do is go to the GMod main menu, click on the "Demos" tab on the left of the screen and click "Open Demos Folder". This will bring up all of your recorded demos and all you have to do is select the most recent demo/the demo of the time frame you want to report and drag/drop that file to the bottom of the HG Bans page into the white box labelled "Drag Files Here". Then you want to wait for the loading bar to turn green before you are ready to submit the report.

On top of this, as stated above, since this is an RP server you will also need to grab a RP Status of the person you are reporting in order for us to be able to determine exactly who the banee is. To do this, again you will open up the console in-game, but this time you will type: rp_status <player name> and this will give you their Steam ID, RP Name and current Steam Name. With that in your console window, you need to take a screenshot (F5 is the default key) and upload that screenshot to the HG Bans page, just as described above with the demo and then copy and paste the other 2 essential parts (Steam Name and Steam ID) into the fields requiring them respectively. To access the screenshot page, you will have to do a bit of digging into the Steam directory. It should be under Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > common > GarrysMod > garrysmod > screenshots and these aren't as nice and organized as the demos were so you may have to look through them until you find the correct RP Status.

After you have the form all filled out and all the evidence is loaded, you can click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the form and a member of management will get to dealing with the report as soon as they possibly can. Thank you for reading through this guide and I hope this has helped some of you with filling out those ban requests.
