Cleaning my apartments carpets

We have a 4 month old beagle, and were wondering what is the best way to remove the urine from the carpet. We would like to be able to get our deposit back. I've been researching ways such as Biozyme and Oxidation, but those seem to be quite a process especially when you're in a rush of moving out of an apartment. Any thoughts on a good carpet cleaner. We do have a carpet shampooer. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated!

We need to make sure that it removes the odor of urine and any of the pet stains, or else they'll claim they have to replace the entire carpet.

1

Use a black light to identify any stains. Outline the ones that cannot be seen with the naked eye with chalk to ensure that you don't miss anything.

2

Use lukewarm water to wet vac the affected area. Do not use hot water or any sort of steam treatment. The heat will cause the proteins in the urine to bind to your carpet, rendering them almost impossible to remove. If you do not own a wet vac, you can rent one at a place like Home Depot.

3

Use a pet stain remover. This should be used in the same way as it would be for wet stains.

4

Shampoo your carpet using the wet vac. There are a number of shampoos meant specifically for removing pet stains.

5

Repeat step one. Mix the lukewarm water with a small amount of vinegar to ensure that all of the shampoo comes out of your carpet.

At my old apartment, my roommate had a dog and he went to the bathroom inside once. We could visually see the stain and we did everything that we could to get rid of the smell and the stain. i.e) Rug Doctors, Spray from the pet store, Carpet Cleaners, almost anything you could think of. After we were done treating the stain for these problems, we moved out and thought we were in the clear. I'm not sure if the people at the office were being assholes or what but they charged us for replacing the carpet because there was a stain on the pad underneath the carpet and a small stain on the slab (we were on the first floor). I'm telling you this because I would hate for you to think that the stain and smell was gone but later on find out you're being charged for a whole new carpet. Maybe call a carpet cleaning company to see what they have to say? Hope everything works out!
