So this is going to be my thread asking for feedback on the parts i'm getting for my computer. I look to update/bump it when i'm about to get a new part so I can get feedback from you guys. Below are the parts I have already:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233&Tpk=Coolermaster%20HAF%20912

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131767

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103962

Graphics Card: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N460GTX-Hawk.html

Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139025

So thats all I have...for now, but the next part i'm looking at is my hardrive and i've been looking at this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136490 so if you could give me some feedback on this part it would help me out a lot.

Thanks a lot,

MaGiC

As for your hard-drive, it may be detrimental to performance (depending on what you do) it's a 5400 RPM drive (with green settings).

It's definitely not a bad hard-drive but eh, if you want performance, you might want to pony up for a 7200 RPM HDD or a hybrid HDD.

Well how much more would this be? And if you could link me to one of these it would help me out a lot.

I'd suggest posting this on Facepunch's PC Building section.

The guys on there are very literate about hardware and it's pricing.

But if you don't want to; i'd suggest getting an SSD for your copy of Windows and games: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148441

And a 7200 RPM hard drive for everything else: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136835

PS. Don't get an OCZ SSD, they're shit.

@OCZ comment, any sources to back that up. I've owned about 3-4 OCZ SSDs and have had nothing but good things with them. I've had Intel SSDs that work just as well too.

Crucial isn't bad either! so I would suggest for you, depending on your data needs... try a hybrid HDD. They're actually quite beneficial for the typical gamer if they're not too into any other read/write intensive operations.

(most of the time we end up with random read/writes @ 4K)

So a Hybrid HDD? Ok and is there any specific one you could recommend me?

I've had decent luck with this one

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148837

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/seagate_momentus_xt_750gb_hybrid/4.htm

sadly not 1 TB :(

OCZ RevoDrive RVDHY-FH-1T

this one is eh >.<

Another crazy way to do this is to buy a cheap SSD (like a 64 GB SSD) and use it a cache drive.

I'd swap out the haf for an antec 900 case, airflow is amazing.

And as for the cpu, a phenom 965 black would be much better if you're just planning on gaming.

Well the thing is I already have the parts I listed. I don't have a great budget for this.

1. Don't mislead people with your inaccurate information.

2. That's a laptop drive.

In regards to the OP, i would suggest at least going with a WD Caviar Blue, as most models are designed for 7200 RPM speeds.

If your wanting to spend a bit more and get their flagship, go for the WD Caviar Black as the large cache will be beneficial.

E.g. Black or Blue

Spending way too much on the cpu cooler. Grab the hyper 212 by coolermaster. $35 and extremely good cooling.

Also i'd steer clear of the g500. Its not a bad mouse but I'd do a bit more research.

Any good cheap mics you can recommend to me?
