Before i begin, id like to state that im not totally sure if this is the right place for this thread or not. Move it if needbe please.

DayZ official website: http://dayzmod.com/

My Story:

Recently, my attention has been turned to a new game. An Arma 2 mod, DayZ. In order to play, you have to purchass Arma 2: Combined Ops, which is on Steam for $30. My friend bought it and showed me, and since then i have boughten it, two of my friends have boughten it, and three more of my friends plan on buying it. Its a very addicting game, and very fun. Since starting this game maybe probably a week ago, there have already been an additional 100,000 people who have joined and boughten the game.

About The Game:

If you dont already know, Arma 2 is a realistic warfare simulator. If you have ever gone paintballing, try mixing that with Battlefield 2 And your baby will be Arma 2. DayZ is a mod for Arma 2. Dayz takes place in a post-apocalyptic fictional world Chernarus, located in (Russia?). The map is (i did a quick Google search) 230 sq/km. Its very big. Ive seen servers support up to 100 people, but the average is about 50. DayZ itself is in the process of becoming its own standalone game, but the mod is in Alpha stage. So if you play, expect your inventory to randomly dissapear, you be teleported somewhere else, seeing texture problems streaming across the sky, and many many other bugs.

Gameplay:

There are two main cities, abbreviated as Cherno and Electro. The spawn area is mainly inbetween these two, but also to the left of Cherno and right of Electro. Here are the two cities: http://dayzdb.com/map#3.083.128 The spawn area is on the coastline, which makes it generally easy to meet up with someone. You will never spawn in a big city.

Each player starts off with a backpack, a bandage, a flashlight, and i believe painkillers. You have no weapon, and you cannot use your fists (I have at least a million suggestions for the creators when the real game comes out, this is one of them.) You find small cities, and loot them while either sneaking around and avoiding zombies, or charging in and charging out while praying. Your first main weapon would be an axe, if you could find it. This will be your main weapon until you find a good enough gun and enough ammo to where you can put your axe on your toolbelt. Eventually you will die a few times, get the hang of it, be smarter change your tactics, and basically get used to the game, just as any game.

Blood. Blood is futile, thats your life. You lose blood by getting hit, or by bleeding. You can eat food to gain blood back, but its very lottle. The only real way to get blood back is by getting a blood transfusion from another player, which leads to my next topic.

Other players. It is a very good idea to team up with other players. Double the powerfire, the opprotunity to give blood transfusions and save each others lives, plus two minds thinking (which is more important than it sounds in this game). The very big problem with this, is that the other player can be deceitful and eventually kill you and take your loot. Again, this leads me to my next topic.

Bandits. Each player has humanity, which is how humane you are. You can gain humanity by giving transfusions or giving others painkillers or morphine and basically helping other players. Im not sure what happens when you gain enough umanity, if anything even happens. You lose humanity by killing other players. When you lose enough humanity, you become a bandit. Bandits are loners, or travel in groups of many bandits. They will kill you and they know how to kill very well.

Zombies. They are everywhere. Mainly in towns and cities, very very rarely on the road or in the woods.

Food and drink. You need to keep eating and drinking things to stay conscious, and stay alive. Otherwise you start losing blood, which does in fact lead to death.

Loot. Loot ranges from empty cans to car wheels to compasses to maps to pistols to food to assult rifles to night vision. To everything else you could think of.

Night time. servers are real-time, which means an hour in real life would equal out to... divide by three... minus the remainder.... an hour game time. If its turning night time on a server, expect it to be night for a good 10 more hours. Night isnt a thing you can just go lay down or find a bed and wait for it to be done, you need to survive during night. No events with the zombies happens at night, but they cant see you. Youre practically invisible to them, which would be fantastic if you could see. So grab some road flares, chemlights, flashlights (with batteries) or whatever you can find. Oh, one more thing.

Visibility. If youre running down the middle of the road, expect to be seen from quite a ways away, versus running in the grass on the side of the road. When laying down, (depending on where youre laying [tall grass versus a wooden deck]) zombies sometimes cant see you. So, if youre being chased, three very good ways to ditch zombies would be running through the woods, going through buildings or around fences, or running around a building out of the zombies sight, and laying down.

ENOUGH ABOUT GAMEPLAY!!!

HellsGamers Server:

I think it would be super cool if HellsGamers started a server or three on here. Or maybe after the actual game comes out in (a few months or a lot of months?) I find this game very addicting, and im pretty sure that very soon this shit will hit the fan, and fly everywhere, creating a room with crap everywhere layering everything. Its a weak comparison, but its going to get big. A lot of people like this game a lot, and being a member of HellsGamers, i would love to see one in this game.

Thats all i have to say, thanks for reading my rant. Never posted anything this long on a forum before, i hope it was good

My First Time Playing: (Everyone has their first time)

I started on the coast, then ran to a small city hoping to find something. I ended up finding nothing and being chased by zombies. I found and ran into a warehouse, and to my sheer amazement i found a rifle in the corner. I grabbed it, reloaded it, and turned around. I popped off those zombies, reloaded, then turned to another door and shot those zombies. I was so well off, and i finally thought i was going to survive through this little chase and live through this. Then, out of nowhere, another player ran into the warehouse and shot me in the head.

Futile: Adj. Incapable of producing any useful result; pointless.

You're better off just joining a random server anyway. Either way you'll be playing with fags.
