Mathematik
Light Heavyweight Championship Bout Jon Jones © vs Vitor Belfort First-Ever Flyweight Championship Bout Joseph Benavidez vs Demetrious Johnson Middleweight Bout Michael Bisping vs Brian Stann Light Heavyweight Bout Matt Hamill vs Roger Hollett Featherweight Bout Cub Swanson vs Charles Oliveira Who's excited for this card? I know it's not the big fight we were all expecting, but I do see 3 or 4 of these fights to be potential barn burners. I'm curious to see how Matt Hamill looks in his return to the octagon and see if he's improved his striking and ground-n-pound. Michael Bisping needs this win over Brian Stann to cement himself at the top of the Middleweight standings and a shot for Silva's belt. The Flyweight bout should be the showstopper and the fight of the night. These two guys are firecrackers who will be set to explode Saturday night in a hail of bombs to the face. Last, but not least, Jon Jones is looking to defend his belt against the veteran Vitor Belfort. Jones is 10 years younger than Belfort (25 vs 35) and Belfort started his UFC career 11 years before Jones. A classic matchup of Youth vs Age, Older Veterans vs the New Generation. I personally can't see Jones losing this fight, but stranger things have happened in the UFC. What are your thoughts, who are you pulling for? Mathematik
There are some interesting stories about rigged fights in the Japanese promotions due to the heavy Yakuza influence on them. If you look at Pride FC or Dream FC, they have some well known controversies in the MMA universe. Fortunately, the UFC hasn't had that issue yet regardless of the Vegas gambling influences that have corrupted Boxing. Back on track, there's also a "UFC on Fuel" the week after, should be fun. 60Seconds
Billy off in lala land again I don't really think its fake, but I think that UFC isn't a real sport, its just people hitting each other. Not a real martial art.
Mathematik
I don't really think its fake, but I think that UFC isn't a real sport, its just people hitting each other. Not a real martial art. I understand where you're coming from, to most people it looks like kickboxing with spooning. UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) is the premiere organization that specializes in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) bouts. The UFC began as a Style vs Style competition that looks far, far different than the fights today. When it started out you had: Karate, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Hapkido, Sambo, Street Fighting and other specialists in a particular martial art. As the sport evolved over the years coaches, trainers, and fighters all agreed that to become the best all-round fighter you need to be skilled at a striking and grappling discipline which defines how most fighters are today. You'll rarely see a "Pure Striker" or "Pure Grappler" in the cage due to how easily exploited their weakness would be. Now the fighters, referred to as Mixed Martial Artists, use an assortment of fighting techniques culled from multiple martial arts sources like Muay Thai or Dutch Kickboxing, Japanese or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Kung-Fu, and others. The sport has become homogenized over the years due to the similar skill sets required across the board, similar to an competitive video game having certain characters/moves/builds that make up the top-tier of gameplay. So when you say it's not a real martial art, I can completely see where you're coming from, but it's not entirely true.
