Mike is Fr3sh
Go custom built. It's more fun that way! I would recommend a quad core like the i7 (I own the first gen i7, and its great!). 2 GTX 660Ti's sli. Buy EVGA, I have had the best experience with them! 850w PSU (Corsair is really reliable). Pick up a watercool unit from Corsair as well, works great. For the mobo, look at the Z68, I've heard good things about it.
FrostCal
This website is trustworthy and is pretty cheap too. You can configure your own and they will set it up for you. http://www.computerlx.com/config.aspx?t=&product_ID=1642
ViridionPlague
dont buy some premade computer no matter the brand. youll end up paying 50% more than building yourself or having a friend who knows what they are doing build it. a 1000 bucks will be more than enough to run arma II maxed out.

Runda20
I still need ideas UNDER $1000 That can run ArmA II really good.
MerrittX
I still need ideas UNDER $1000 That can run ArmA II really good. Again custom build -- buy your case or make your own, buy from newegg or some other electronics store ONLINE, make sure its not all refurbished... though some parts can be with a warranty. Use a bit of street smarts on this as well as your nerd smarts.

Plaayer
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wOVf Want a better GPU? Switch the 660Ti with the 670. Want to overclock? Switch the Hyper 212 Evo with a Corsair H100. Want faster boot times, game load times, etc? Grab a ~120GB+ SSD. I like the OCZ Vector, Samsung 840, or Intel's drives. I'm wondering what res he is going to be playing at because if it is high, 1600+, he's gonna need an AMD GPU because they are a lot better at high res performance than nVidia. enigma#
I'm wondering what res he is going to be playing at because if it is high, 1600+, he's gonna need an AMD GPU because they are a lot better at high res performance than nVidia. lol 1000$ budget and getting a 2560x1600/2560x1440+ monitor... oh boy.. @AMD comment, that is highly contestable, AMD's radeons will pack the best punch on multimonitor setups however at larger resolutions, AMD doesn't always match up. Contrast this game (Far Cry) http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/01/08/asus_geforce_gtx_670_directcu_ii_4gb_gpu_review/4 with Hitman http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/01/08/asus_geforce_gtx_670_directcu_ii_4gb_gpu_review/5 You'll notice in this review, AMD takes a win by being playable at 2560x1600 whereas in Hitman, nvidia takes the win by having a better peak framerate (which can be a good or bad thing) The line between nvidia and amd performance based on the dollar itself is not as cut and dry (especially if you don't overclock as demosntrated by HOCP) Pick the video card that you prefer lol Anyways back to the build at hand, the 670 is certainly a formidable card and many review sites like Tom's Hardware would say it's a fairly good card to work with (a bit pricey if you buy a heavily modified aftermarket card) http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-670-test-review,3217-11.html It by no means will be better than its pricier competitior the 7970 GHz at higher resolutions but given that most people like ~1080p, the frame difference just wouldn't kill you even if it were +/- 2-3 fps. I assume that you're not going to be benchmarking or whoring your specifications out so I'm sure that won't be an issue. @ If you're going to go to closed loop cooling, consider getting the newer iteration of the H100 the H100i. It should be around the same price to start out with.
AnonyHorse
Honestly to run arma 2 a 660ti will max it out and then some. Look toward the intel side of things as far as CPUs go, also antec cases are glorious. antec 902 i got about a month ago, literally love this case. Best mid tower ever. a 670 would be overkill but if you have the money its always a good idea to get the next step up. (saves you from having to upgrade sooner)

I'd go WD for the HDD though instead of Seagate
