So a few days ago I switched from telus dsl to fibre with a motorola cable modem, and since the first day I've had constant modem reboots as well as ridiculous throttling or signal loss. I don't know if this is the modem itself or the technician didn't know what he was doing.

Please call Telus. Whoever did the installation might have missed some crucial steps or someone at Telus dun goofed!

 

so much eye rape... but yeah, if it's kicking back to 1970-01-01 (the start of the Unix Epoch) it means that it's trying to grab the firmware but failing (restarting...) and it's looping so yeah... Telus >.<

I switched to a small company called City West, and they're sending a tech out on wednesday. Will try factory reset now.

I'm guessin' they had to code a MAC Address for your service to work. Worth calling them and asking them if the MAC Address they have on file matches it.

It sounds like it's trying to continuously download the new firmware and it's failing because it doesn't recognise the MAC address

 

I suspect that's the case but they would give you the best answer.

On the phone with someone now. Trying to explain this stuff to them is like trying to teach a rock to play fetch. I swear the people they hire for technical assistance barely know how to power on a computer let alone diagnose one.

 

From what he told me the signal has been dropping more often than it should be since about friday, and its been happening more and more often since then. He pretty much said theres nothing that can be done until a tech comes out and fixes it, which will be wednesday.
