enigma#
Did you do the whole thing by yourself? There is a similar picture floating by a concept/visual artist named Kyle Anderson. http://www.kyleanderson.com/ Fourth picture down is the city without the dragons and enhanced lighting in the arena. It appears you extended it by adding a cave-like overlay to the picture. I'm all for modifying and deriving works but don't say "it's by me" when it's not really "by you". You derived the work. Well, i can tell you that ive done over 40Layers of effects on that background, wich when can see you you look good. Also, this art is not completely done yet, im still working on it, i should have said that. This right now is a few hours of work, its not as easy as it looks, i can promise that. Also alot of work has gone into the dragons, i had to render them myself, (Cutting them out an existing picture) worked on the Dept, some extra effects etc. And almost always people take existing pictures, and mix it together to create a fine looking art. @Mark Some sort of Arena. I'm not hating on it or you.I think it looks cool, and what you've done with it augmented the aesthetic value overall. (personally speaking) However, I'm not a big fan of people saying they did something when they did not. That is why I'm saying.. attributing the work to yourself and yourself alone is not something you want to do (I assume you will let people know that this was derived from someone else's work and not your own ORIGINAL creation). In this case, you redid the background and enhanced some details in the original city and added the dragons but like I said, it's not all yours. Props to you for doing that. Addendum: I'm aware people re-use art other people's works however, that doesn't make it right all the time. Most of the time there is a DISTINGUISHABLE differentiation between their derived works and itself when people recreate something. Take for example, the dragon itself. You took it from another picture. Do you have to attribute it? Not necessarily, I mean, it's going to be more difficult for someone to differentiate it from the original picture because there was enough editing to distinguish it. The original city is still the centerpiece of it. As far as I know, if it is directly derived (like you did) from the author, most editors will attribute that this was originally done by "xyz". That being said, not everyone does that but it doesn't necessarily make it right or even lawful (check "derivative work" for legal implications, since you're not selling it... it's not as relevant but there are important implications to actually consider when you do this stuff for real) Edited April 4, 2013 by enigma#
