fatalphenom
I have a Lenovo ideacentre k300. I'm waiting for my card to arrive (Gigabyte GV-550d5-1 GI, 1GB) and curious about performance verus an ATI Radeon 4500 HD. I know the Gigabyte isnt the best, but it IS better (according to specs on box) than what I have (ATI 4500 HD); I could install and find out the results my self. I guess I'm basically just opening a discussion about video cards and other hardware since there are so many options depending on what capabilities, budget, etc. Any opinions can be helpful, let us know what youre running and how its performing; anything to help sort out misguided info for people who may have never bought/installed any new equipment on a machine. BranHorse
Your cpu is your man issue with that pc. I don't know how much of a performance increase you are going to get since its a dual core pent. If you get anything above the 550 then you are going (if not already) to have a serious bottleneck
fatalphenom
Yeah I was checking out some gaming builds and realized if I want to get anywhere near the performance I see around then I'll need a major hardware overhaul lmao.

Yeah I would just save up for a decent build. Lots of budget options out now. Great time to be a pc gamer!
fatalphenom
I spent my downtime at work piecing together a build. I'd like to save some loot and run Ubuntu; I've just found out that Steam is Linux supported
AnonyHorse
I've had my 550ti for quite a while, and there was definitely a bottleneck with my old cpu. My old processor was an athlon x4 630, nothing crazy but more powerful than a pentium by far. you'll definitely experience some bottlenecking with some games, but unless you're running at high res you should be okay.
