ok so ive never heard of GTS 250 untill recently how does it copare to the gTX 260 and how does the GTX compare to the GTX 275 so i can see if the 275 is worth the extra or stick with 260.

Instead of posting a new topic.

Wat determines how big of a power supply i need?

And any recommendations on a Motherboard. I'm looking at the eVGA nVidia nForce 780i SLI Chipset and the ASUS P5N -- nVidia nForce 750i SLI Chipset

Is 8 GB of memory worth the money? or is 4 GB ready to rock n roll?

I'm getting the Intel Quad Q9550 2.83 Ghz is a certiefied heat sink fan good for that or shud i get a better?

Also, wat differs between AMD and Intel? and wat intel processor compares with the Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz?

Any help will be much appreciated THX

Wat determines how big of a power supply i need?

The parts you place into your machine... CPU/Memory/Video/Sound/Drives[all HDD & CD/DVD]/chasis fans/lights/etc...

For what your running..I would recommend no less than 650 Watt power supply..if adding fans..I would go 750 watt minimum...

And any recommendations on a Motherboard. I'm looking at the eVGA nVidia nForce 780i SLI Chipset and the ASUS P5N -- nVidia nForce 750i SLI Chipset

I go between Intel & Asus MB's... if you plan to over clock, go ASUS -- As last time I checked ASUS has the over clock protection feature built in to their BIOS...protects you and your parts if you go too extreme on the over clocking...I never over clock my stuff..just stay at stock speeds...

Is 8 GB of memory worth the money? or is 4 GB ready to rock n roll?

4 GB to play most games is good...

8 GB to make maps if you were planning on doing maps...

I'm getting the Intel Quad Q9550 2.83 Ghz is a certiefied heat sink fan good for that or shud i get a better?

The manufacturer has [at least supposedly] tested that the OEM fan supplied will suffice at cooling the CPU so that it doesn't over heat and burn a hole into your MB, explode, or otherwise make for a bad day of gaming...

You can always buy a better HS/cooling fan as long as its rated for cooling your CPU.

Also, wat differs between AMD and Intel? and wat intel processor compares with the Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz?

I know when AMD first started alot of folks were having a lot of trouble with installing their CPU's into the motherboards when it came time to place the HS/Fan.. folks were either using to much force or perhaps not placing the CPU correctly..in either case..the CPU would literally break in two! I can only assume AMD has gotten better at making there chips more sturdy?

The 2nd issue, which I believe is still a factor is that..Intel chips due in part they way they are made, will run cooler than an AMD equivalent in speed CPU. If your cpu cooling fan should ever die while your actively using your PC, at least you would have time to shut the PC down, before heat damages your CPU.

I'm running a :

NZXT Case its black: 6 fans : [2] in front, [2] on top, [1] in rear, [1] on side[plexi glass mounted]...I love the blue LED's on the front and side...for this case...

power supply: 750 Watt Rocket fish

MB: Intel [at work don't remember the MB model at the moment]

CPU: Intel Quad Core Q6700 [2.66 G]

Memory: Corsair 8 GB RAM;

Video: ATI Radeon 4670 HD [Pci-e]

O/S: Vista Ultimate -64bit ver

Sound: Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatality

HDD: 1.5 TB sata

CD/DVD: 52x32x52 Sony

Its good enough to piss off most CS:S players, when I shoot and kill them first :)

The GTS250 is a re-branded 9800GTX, requires less power though.

If you can afford it, i'd go with the GTX 275, the GTX 260 is a great card, but I wouldn't pay more than 150$ for it.

For motherboards, if you are not going to use SLI, get the Gigabyte UD3R - Click Me. It is THE best Intel Core 2 Duo/Quad motherboard out, no questions asked. If you want to overclock, get THIS board. If you aren't going SLI, get THIS board. I personally am not a fan of the EVGA nforce boards, i'd choose the ASUS P5N over it.

4 gigs vs 8 gigs, if you are gaming, there's NO need. 8 gigs puts more stress on your Northbridge which makes it require more power and generally less overclockability. If you are map making, video/music editing, folding, running virtual machines, then sure, 8 gigs is great.

The Q9550 is a great CPU, for 220 its hard to beat, the stock heat sink works fine for STOCK, if you are overclocking look into the Primotech Mega, Thermaltake TRUE, or Noctua.

Difference between AMD and Intel is price, generally Intel costs more but slightly faster. If you are NOT overclocking, I would recommend looking at Phenom II X4's, they are just as fast as the Core 2 Quads clock per clock these days. I will post some recommendations if you'd like. I'd say MOST of the time, AMD is the best for the $ with the Phenom II's.

For power supplies, a QUALITY 550+ watt PSU will run all of that (Corsair, Antec, PC Power & Cooling come to mind) Single rail is ideal.

What all do you have now? Are you building from scratch? You have a budgeT?

well, I compared prices between newegg and ibuypower.com and I rlly dont have a budget im just not gonna over board on the parts, but ibuypower.com isnt much more then newegg plus from ibuypower i could get a few extra things like LED lights and such, I don't plan on overclocking I'm not that brave at trying it I know how to do it not gonna try though, oh and for getting from ibbuypower is that I dont have to put it together and risk breaking something I rather have some1 put it in the comp for me when if it breaks its there fault not mine. And awolfpup/terry the certified HS/Fan is good enuf for the Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz? and which AMD CPU=the Q9550? If I get an AMD CPU I can upgrade some other parts such as a better HS/Fan, A better PSU, or even a meter on the comp, Since I'm not overclocking, which board do u recommend? And explain in depth if u can to wat is SLI? And if I do get the 8GB RAM in theory wud my comp be faster than 4GB RAM?

That looks okay venom. You really do not need an aftermarket heatsink/fan if you aren't overclocking. There is no need. For that price range (keep in mind you still need an operating system) I would configure a Phenom II 955. Motherboard isn't a huge deal, all the ones I see on ibuypower are descent name brands. SLI/Crossfire is dual video cards, this is only needed when using big monitors and very high resolutions.

The one I configured looked like this. This is without your OS and the wiring fee/led lights. Sounds like you are using the PC for gaming, you have no need for 8 gigs so no, it will not make your PC "faster" Don't skimp on the PSU, get the Corsair 650 Watt.

Case ( Nzxt Guardian 921 Gaming Tower Case - w/ NVIDIA Side Window )

Processor ( [== Quad Core ==] AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X4 955 Black Edition Quad-Core CPU )

Motherboard ( Asus M3A78-CM -- AMD 780V/SB700 Chipset w/Integrated ATI video, 8-channels, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, Single PCI-E MB )

Memory ( 4 GB [2 GB X2] DDR2-800 PC6400 Memory Module - Corsair-Value or Major Brand )

Video Card ( ATI Radeon HD 4890 - 1GB - Single Card )

Case Lighting ( None )

Power Supply ( 650 Watt -- Corsair CMPSU-650TX Power Supply - SLI Ready )

Processor Cooling ( Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink )

Hard Drive ( 320 GB HARD DRIVE - [16M Cache, 7200 RPM, 3.0Gb/s] )

$871.00

My list and price actaully did include an OS i just didnt add it on the list lawls my bad and u recommend ATI then nVidia? and is the Phenom II 955 Black Edition = to the intel q9550 2.83Ghz or is it better or slighty worse? (doesnt affect my decision just curious)

Lokked at the pirce ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB is about $80 cheaper than the nVidia GTX 275 896MB in ur opinion which wud give maximum in fps or is just plan better cause i am more known to nVidia then ATI and preferrable wud like to stick with nVidia, but I am willing to change
