Steam Help

Hey there, Sorry if this is in the wrong section in advance. Tried my best judgement.

So whenever I launch Steam it asks me to make sure my internet is configured properly and to retry logging in again and is normally takes until the 3rd-2nd time to get into my steam account, and then after that I can never get any responses from any steam servers worldwide. Is there anyone out there who can help my troubleshoot this? I honestly have no idea what's wrong with my internet connection... as I'm in a server right now, posting this message, and on teamspeak so it's extremely strange to me.

Double check your proxy settings: Open up control panel, open Internet Options, go to Internet tab, for one, I'm going to assume you're not using dial-up, so make sure the bubble for "never dial a connection" is selected, after that click LAN settings, uncheck Use automatic script configuration, and Use a proxy server. If that doesn't fix the issue, I would check your DNS settings: run cmd (windows key + r, type in cmd) type in ipconfig /all, It should look similar to this, depending on if you're using wired/wireless and your version of Windows: cqaff9x.jpgAt the bottom you see DNS servers. if you only see 192.168.1.1 in the list, I would say your problem lies in that your router is running your DNS, and is probably not doing so well. If you see more then that in the list, it may be that your ISP is dumb and handles DNS poorly or there is corruption in the DNS cache. If you only see 192.168.1.1 in the list, or would like to test your ISP's DNS servers, I would suggest Google's Public DNS servers, and if you need help configuring that, just post a reply. https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/ Those 2 things would be my first steps of things to try, and a good place to start.
