I can sell drugs and make tax free money, pump out 3 kids and let you pay for our food and our section 8housing. And now you will pay for my health insurance too. Why the hell am I working so hard, when some of these section 8 houses look nice and are paid for. Why the hell don't I have food in my house even though I work hard, I want free shit. Why the hell do I have to pay for people going to the emergency room because a motherfocker sneezes. Or because they want to jump off a roof, smoke cigs for 30 years, or sit on glass jars. :drama:

Guest The_Monkey
I am quite hesitant to enter into this conversation, but I am going to despite the possibility of extreme flames. Do I think Obama is a good president? Yes and no. He requests transparency, accountability and bipartisan support. This I like. However, given current political climates, it would be nearly impossible to achieve bipartisan support for any bit of legislation as it is introduced in a clean manner due to crazy right wing republican and hippie left wing democrats bickering for ear marks and insane compromises that dilute the intended bill into nothing more than a declaration of idiocy. Given the above, I support health care reform as it has been introduced so far. I do support a "public insurance option" (this is an option and not universal health care). Some would argue that this is a form of socialism when it is far from it. It is merely another insurer designed to compete with the current insurance monopolies, and thereby possibly causing insurance premiums to wane. Most Americans are not up on how health care works in other countries. I suggest you give T.R. Reids "Looking Overseas for 'Healing Of America'" a read as it is quite insightful about the goings on of health care in various countries. If you don't feel like reading the book, listen to NPR's interview with T.R. Reid here: http://www.npr.org/templates/player/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=112172939&m=112173424 Back to socialism, I am dumbfounded about how this term is bandied about so willingly by the American public when it comes to health care reform. Universal health care would be a social program, but would not usher in socialism in America. What the public fails to realize is that we as Americans enjoy quite a few social programs like: medicare and medicaid, social security, public safety programs (fire and police departments), parks and recreation and a few others I can't seem to think of right now. If you are so opposed to universal health care because it is a social program, then you must demand that all social programs be dismantled and privatized. Problem is, then we'd be heading straight for unrestrained capitalism which will crush most of the middle class, and all but destroy anyone lower. /******************** * Begin Flame ********************/

LoudPorpoise
No economy could run on the "Peace Love and Dope" lifestyle fad of the 70's. Although the earth would be a much cleaner and greener place. (pun intended) If California legalizes Marijuana, it will spread rapidly through the states. The money that can be made and saved would be enormous. (Or at least stop charging minor possessors with criminal charges that prevent people from getting tax paying jobs...) Cash for clunkers was dumb, I guarantee 20-30% will default on their loans. I mean thats why you had a clunker to begin with, because you couldn't afford payments. (usually) C4C was another example of the lack of full foresight before dumping money into something. "Oh wow, 1 billion dollars blown through in 2 weeks...lets dump 2 billion more." And lets not even add a "domestic only" clause in the agreement. (over 50% were import purchases, although some still made in American facilities...but still. No thought put into it. You can't change the world, so you have to just do your best and roll with it. Otherwise you would make yourself miserable. I do hate how we reward people who don't want to work, but want to have 5 kids... But we can't even euthanize dying old people, so we couldn't euthanize the ignorant. lol More fire in this thread! Bring it! *btw, the "things I can name" is completely dead on for me. lol Don't worry I agree with u bout the peace thing cause it'll never happen Glad to also see someone who thinks in a good way and not for themselves
Wingless
STOP DOUBLE POSTING! I get this feeling that the country is heading for economic collapse and general unrest. As a result, I've kind of stopped caring about current events, and am just making sure my guns are properly maintained. That aside, I have a few steadfast beliefs. Vision/Food Stamps = Bad. I loathe every person that passes through the line ahead of me at the convenience store and pays for their snack food and candy for their little cracker welfare demon spawn with my money. It's unfortunate, since some people actually need a hand every once in a while, but by and large, the people getting my money don't deserve it. 2nd amendment = Good. The people that actually want to legitimately purchase semi-automatic rifles are not the people you need to worry about owning semi-automatic rifles. The people you should be concerned with will end up getting guns regardless of whether or not you sell them to the general public. The police can't always respond quick enough to a call to stop whatever is going on at the moment, though I know that they try. With this in mind, I want to be well equipped to put a flachette round into anyone that comes to my place of residence and threatens myself and my own. Gay marriage = homophobes are obnoxious, marriage is more so. I'm not really so gung-ho on the concept of marriage to begin with, but the idea behind it is "when people love each other, they want to be able to declare it to the world. And get a tax break." With this in mind, I don't see how it's any different for two men/women to get married/unionized/rainbowized/whatever than for a man and a woman. I'll leave it at that, because any further is guaranteed to turn into a religious debate for some stupid reason, and I don't have time to reply to rage today. I'm sure I have more, but I'm done for now.

You're a shame to fellow republicans. Republicans will win more elections when their supporters use argumentation with reasoning, not rants. <3. Wingless put it nicely. Once again people need to stop worrying about anti-gun laws. Never will win, never will pass. Nobody is bold enough to try and pass more laws restricting them. I'm happy Bernanke is being the Fed chairman again. He knows what's up. G. Even if people don't like Obama, they should at least like the people he's choosing to get the job done. Bad, bad, bad. Unarmed we are not citizens. We are subjects. I hope you're not part of the NRA. They are shameful gun owners. Gun owners who are TOO focused on "protecting their rights blah blah blah". Once again the second amendment is untouchable and always will be. People pride themselves on being law-abiding gun-toting citizens. NRA = bad. Second, I should rephrase: there are a bunch of anti-gun laws trying to be passed, but nothing major will ever win. Please refer again to second amendment stuff. Even the local democratic leaders here in ultra-liberal SF acknowledge that. I'll say it one more time, NRA is for dumbasses who don't know their rights. Too much lobbying and too much fail. Restrictions for guns will always exist, as long as murderers and cop killers are out running about. I don't care if I have to wait extra time for a longer background check what do I have to hide? As long as it makes it easier for me to not have to shoot a criminal barging into my home with a gun he just bought 1 day ago. Not that I wouldn't blast his face off anyways. /rant. Government HEALTH CARE isn't sustainable under our government. The gov't can't afford to foot the bill. Providing HEALTH INSURANCE as an ALTERNATIVE to private insurance could provide enough revenue to be self supporting.

60Seconds
But , donnie did you fall for that land of opportunity crap. some people can't find jobs or don't have health insurance in their benefits, so if they can't afford health care they should just lay down and die? And if guns weren't allowed then what would criminals have to use. Maybe i would agree to not eliminating the ownership of guns but tightening laws. do you find it okay for people to go around with AR rifles at presidential rallies? have you heard of virginia tech or even worse incidents. 30 something people got killed because some mentally retarded kid could go and buy automatic pistols with extended clip ammo. And you think they cant afford the extra billions. Bush managed to spend a lot of those extra billions on the Iraq war. that was very useful, wasn't it? Also he managed to put the country in a deficit. While Bill Clinton managed a Surplus. Edited August 28, 2009 by Billy Mays

That's the thing - Britain, as an example, has rather stringent gun control, but the bad guys still have guns. The bad guys will ALWAYS have guns. I'm assuming you mean AR-15 when you say AR Rifles, since "automatic rifle rifles" doesn't make sense. The AR-15 is effectively a civilian model M-16. It's not fully automatic. Also, you're frowned upon carrying them in the open in most states. That's pretty much a non-issue. Virgina Tech - Licensed dealers run people through NICS, as well as whatever state-specific databases the dealer happens to need to use. They're also profiled for being "mentally defective", and Cho hadn't been classified as such at that time. I'm never going to say that VT was... largely at fault, but there were some flaws in their student security, if you will. Also, VA is a CCW state, but the VT campus has a no weapon policy, mandated by the administrations. Think of the possibility of another student carrying his legal, registered pistol that he's certified to carry, and him being able to take down Cho as soon as he pulled his weapons. 30 lives could have been saved. And again with Cho - He had a standard size Glock, which carries 15 rounds, I believe, and a Walther, which has 10. Both of those are stock magazines, and neither pistol is fully automatic. I don't believe you have a good grasp on firearm use, handling or legislature.
