Mr.bluesky
So.. I cant study cause I am constantly thinking about this paradox.. Someone save my sanity by giving a logical series of events that happens after Ponocchio says "my nose is going to grow now"!
Dode
His nose would grow, not because he lied, but becausr he got an upgrade the other day so it can grow/shrink on command
Chimmy_Changa
His nose wouldnt grow because it was a lie and a truth, making them cancel out.

enigma#
So.. I cant study cause I am constantly thinking about this paradox.. Someone save my sanity by giving a logical series of events that happens after Ponocchio says "my nose is going to grow now"! The paradox is based off a few foundational assumptions about what causes Pinocchio's nose to grow. a) Let P = Pinocchio Let P(statement) = something Pinnochio says c) Let Boolean(P(statement[outcome])) = outcome of what he says is true or false d) Let P(intent(statement)) = what was Pinnochio's intent by saying it ------------------------------------------------------------------ e) If P(intent(statement)) = deceive, then Nose(grow(yes)) f) If P(intent(statement)) = truth, then Nose(grow(yes)) OR g) if Boolean(P(statement[outcome])) = false, then Nose(grow(yes)) h) If Boolean(P(statement[outcome])) = true, then Nose(grow(yes)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In this premise, is the intent or outcome more important? If I recall (IMO) the movie correctly, it was the INTENT to deceive and lie, that caused Pinocchio's nose to grow. I may be wrong but yeah, IF and only IF that were true, then the answer to this paradox is simple... no it would not grow because Pinocchio's intent was to make a truthful statement. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Another way to look at this is using truth tables.
