sharp_shooter
I'm getting to a very level of performance and I'm in need of a high quality microphone that I can use to submit my college applications and audition pieces. I would prefer an independent mic with its own power source and I would prefer the recording to be stored on the mic so no computer is needed. Any price ranger under $900 (don't have that much money) is fine. Aim toward a mic that would work best situated inside a piano roughly where it starts to 'curve' inward on the right side if you're playing it. It's going to need to be able to pickup the note range mainly focusing on treble http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piano_key_frequencies

sharp_shooter
I'll look into them but they both have the limitation of the computer. I would like to be able to set it up on the piano for performances as well since that's when I play the best.
digitalshot
Ohhh I should have read your post more carefully. I don't know anything about microphones for pianos. Maybe this? http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-PRO-35-Pro-Series-Microphone/dp/B000K67VG0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389930932&sr=8-2&keywords=piano+microphone
