Shot
So This is my old desktop. http://i.imgur.com/JiUE9S5.png I'm going to try to build one my own this time. I don't have much experience and will be looking a lot of how to videos. 1. Budget $1500-2000 2. Brand preferences None-unless a brand is known to have a lot of problems. 3. What do you plan to do with the machine? Gaming 4. Is there a place where you'd like to get the parts from? Does not bother me, I will still be taking an extra look to compare prices. 5. What parts (if any) do you have already that you don't need upgraded? None 6. Do you plan to overlock? Possibly If I have someone show me but for now I will say no 7. Do you have an OS (e.g. Windows) that you can use for this computer? No but would like to stick to windows 7 because of a lot of incompatibility with windows 8 etc etc Keep In mind that I will be buying part by part slowly and will not be a one shot deal. I would also like to have room for future upgrades when the time comes.

->SK<-
I would go ahead and suggest that you build your own PC. It'll be cheaper in the end and you'll also get much better performance that way. That being said I'm gunna link you a few parts that you may or may not be interested in. These are all from Amazon and usually are the cheapest price around. CPU : Intel (Socket 1150) i7 4770K @ 3.5GHz @ $335 http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-4770K-Quad-Core-Processor-BX80646I74770K/dp/B00CO8TBQ0/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1393266757&sr=8-5&keywords=asus+z87-k Wow. That's a really nice price actually XD. Wouldn't get that over here for that price let me tell ya. On topic; Latest gen is very promising. Compared to 1155 (my current socket/chipset combo) it's definitely a big step up and worth buying. Motherboard : ASUS Z87-K @ $109 http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Z87-K-DDR3-1600-Motherboard/dp/B00CRJSWPC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393266757&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+z87-k Probably the best all round motherboard that isn't going to give you a lot of extra goodies. You really don't need any extra's anyway. Pick this up, I have the Z77 variant and it rocks. Does what is said on the tin. Memory : Crucial Ballistix (16GB @ 1600MHz (8x2)) @ $144 http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-PC3-12800-240-Pin-BLS2KIT8G3D1609DS1S00/dp/B006YG9EEW/ref=pd_sim_pc_10?ie=UTF8&refRID=0HY1MM1AQY8DEPMATH12 Good price for a nice high speed set of sticks. Leaves room for another 16GB set so you can expand whenever. HDD : WD Black 1TB @ $100 (58% off. Get this ASAP!) http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-WD1002FAEX-Internal-Desktop/dp/B0036Q7MV0/ref=pd_sim_pc_10?ie=UTF8&refRID=15B8KGTRPRNJF6DWW0TE Higher speeds on the Black set of HDD's will allow you to have a much smoother experience in OS and in game. Case : HAF 912 @ $60 http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-HAF-912-Computer/dp/B00BCXF6O4/ref=pd_sim_pc_40?ie=UTF8&refRID=17BZHV92E65XZMG7S692 A nice ventilated case to keep your parts cool. GPU : GIGABYTE GTX 770 @ $330 http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GDDR5-2GB-WINDFORCE-Graphics-GV-N770OC-2GD/dp/B00D3ES1Q0/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1393267648&sr=8-7&keywords=GTX+770 Probably my next GPU update will be this card. Very quiet, cool and ready to kick ass and chew AMDgum.... PSU : Antec High Current Gamer 850Watt Modular PSU @ $128 http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Current-HCG-850M-ATX12V-EPS12V/dp/B00DOH8HW4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1393267841&sr=8-7&keywords=Gamer+current A spectacular PSU that I own already. Has yet to let me down at all. Continuous rated power means it's guaranteed to run @ 850Watts and higher. Loads of other features like anti surge protection helps keep the PC healthy. CPU cooler : Cooler Master Hyper T4 @ $31 http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393268011&sr=8-2&keywords=cooler+master+hyper+212+evo To keep the CPU nice and cool. Anything i7 needs a custom cooler and this will do the trick. Comes with $10 rebate so that's nice. When all is said and done, this comes to around $1250-$1300 which is just under your budget. You could spend that extra $200 on other peripherals as you so please. If I missed anything then whoooops . Hope this helps.

IvoryG37
I would have to agree with the microcenter suggestion. They have the best prices on Intel processor. Also when you buy it with a motherboard you get an extra $50 off on the motherboard I believe.
Shot
I believe I do have a Microcenter near me, I will grab the list and take it to them to see what the price will average out. I'll keep you posted.
IvoryG37
You could always go by this list as well if you're looking for a pre-build with parts listed and price range. http://www.logicalincrements.com/

ssSithy
Here's the current setup I use. Feel free to change it around as you wish. You still got about $500 dollars extra to use anyways. Also, don't worry about the building part. If you follow all the instructions correctly and all parts are compatible, it's like building legos. For more PC building help, ask around at reddit.com/r/buildapc. Also, use PCPartPicker to help get lower prices and select which parts you really want. Personally, I buy my parts from Amazon because of Prime, (2 day free shipping FTW) but I've heard that Newegg is good too. Ryan Bass
Didn't read posts up in there, but I suggest to not buy i7. i5 is what you need. As well on. Overlclock part, don't do it if you don't know how to do it. As well in your price range you will not need to do it. As well, take additional SSD HDD. Put there Windows and games. You will be happy. RAM, you don't need more then 8Gb Ram. But of course if money is left, get 2x8Gb ram. Get good GPU and you are good to go. #Im_drunk
