FEBRUARY
Card's 6 > Braves 3Get at us bro #natitude That Error in the 8th Gave The Cardinals the win it was ruled a infield fly. it clearly was and error. Video It was an infield fly, the batter was out. Kozma shouldn't have called for the ball. If he had not called for the ball, it would have dropped and not counted as an error considering it dropped ~3 feet away from where he turned to start back towards the infield. Matt Holliday said in an interview this morning on MLB Network that he stopped charging for the ball because Kozma called for it, when in fact he did not have it. The umpire looked up at the ball when it was about to reach its descent, and then looked back at Kozma. Kozma was under the ball, and he had called it. The umpire had every right to call that an infield fly. Infield fly's are judgement calls based on the umpires discretion.

Did Matt Holliday take light action to catch it? and Also That was a easy fly ball and to miss it was the error.
FEBRUARY
Did the ball land in the infield or shallow left?Did Matt Holliday take light action to catch it? and Also That was a easy fly ball and to miss it was the error. The MLB infield fly ruling pretty much says this "If the infielder has the ability to catch the ball, its an infield fly under the umpires discretion." It does not matter where the infield fly is called. There's no ruling that says it only applies to the infield despite the name of the call. Kozma called Holliday off. If Kozma knew he couldn't catch it and wasn't in control, why did he call the ball? Calling the ball also puts the umpire in a mindset where he believes the infielder could get the ball. Yet another reason why it was called infield fly. Also, it doesn't matter what ruling you come up with next, because there's no changing the fact an infield fly is the judgement of the umpire closest, and if he calls it an infield fly, it's an infield fly. Thats why Joe Torre had to decline the protest of the play.
