Aegis Barricade Kit Strategy [Aka Cade Gandalf]

Purpose

To utilize the infinite repairing ability of the Aegis to either absorb damage from zombies or to prevent zombies from reaching the primary cade you are trying to defend.

Prior Knowledge about the Aegis Barricade Kit

  • You need a mechanic wrench to repair the Aegis Barricade Kit
  • It cost 125 points in wave 1, but it cost 100 points in intermission
  • You start with 5 planks when you buy 1 Aegis Barricade Kit

How

Purchase an Aegis on the intermission after wave 1. Place Aegis horizontal in front of the cade built inside the room of the cade, and place your aegis in a position where can see the health bar of the aegis. Place no more than 2 Aegis at a time. This is because when damage to your Aegis gets hectic, you will lose Aegis boards. Place one at the leg level of the zombies and one at the head level of the zombies (guesstimate it), but try not to place in the firing positions of the humans. Take off boards when Board health is half way (or 3/4 when faced against massive damage from zombines). After taking off the damaged Aegis, place the aegis on a wall close to you because the next deployed aegis will be the the one you took off last. Place a new aegis in the area you removed the damaged aegis. Repair the damaged aegis with a WRENCH when you have time. repeat and rinse. Also don't forget to use a mechanic wrench to repair the Aegis in front of the cade during combat.

Pros and Cons of utilizing Strategy

  1. Pro

  • Surpasses the limit of the primary protected cade and minimizes damage done to the cade.
  • Ability to use Aegis through all 6 rounds or +
  • unlike the real cade, you can hide to the far side and repair without taking damage
  • useful for U cades, V cades, door cades, ladder cades and especially bullet cades (if the bullet cade has an actual cade built)
  • You don't have to build a cade yourself (nor do you have the time to care for the cade)
  • You have the ability to counter the ball shot of the Bonemesh (very useful)

  1. Con

  • Maximum profit without an arsenal is about +50 points
  • You have the possibility of losing up to 125 points if the Aegis is bought in wave 1, but you will lose 100 if you buy it in the intermission.
  • You may lose your Boards if props are placed in front of you or you are pushed far from the board when you are taking off boards
  • Worthless and waste of points on OBJ maps
  • Worthless in vents or skycades
  • Wasting points of Aegis is bought in wave one
  • Focus is heavly requires and may sway you from checking the status of the cade. This may end in your fatal end if you don't pay attention to the cade. More of an issueif you are utilizing the method on non-final cades.

  1. Handy

  2. Mechanic wrench (don't want to be even more poor right?)

  3. you can either get:

  • other...

Alternative Methods

  1. Angled Boards- more firing range for shooter, more area for zombies to hit, and harder to manage (it takes time to rotate). Useful for multi-person Aegis Board strategy

  2. Multi-Person Aegis Board Strategy- 1) up to 4 players and down. 2 on each side of the door. One handles the top and one handles the bottom. Maximizes repairing and management of chaotic situations 2) Both persons have an Aegis board barricade kit. First, one person places the boards. When the boards become damaged enough, the other replaces with their own boards. This provides a method to decrease time to take off the boards since 2 people can now take off the boards. Newbies will not be able to partake in the method unless they contribute in the Aegis Doctor and Technician method.

  3. Full Length Horizontal Door Coverage- blocks area for zombies to hit, but less area for human to shoot out of.

  4. Half Length Horizontal Door Coverage- blocks zombies from entering cade area, provides more area for humans to shoot out of, but provides for area for zombies to hit if the cade is close to the opening.

  5. Vertical Length Door Coverage- protects cades especially door cades. Issues: You must be on top of the cade and close to the opening. When placing boards, you have a chance of falling through the cade and getting killed by the zombies. The most dangerous method.

  6. Through Wall Placement- useful for placing boards in various lengths from the cade and stopping zombie movement. Example: In the bathroom of zs_infected_square (you can even place it on the toilet, bathtub ect...) In that door cade area of beta mall with the unbreakable glass doors. (you can check the cade status since there is a glass door) The Best strategy, yet the most demanding.

  • Aegis Doctor and Technician- One person utilized the Aegis baricade kit strategy, while the others uses a mechanic wrench to repair planks off the battlefield. This method decreases (or even eliminates) time to repair damaged boards. Any newbie can contribute to this method.

Watch out for...

  • Resupply Boxes- blocks your placement of boards and pushes you from your boards.
  • Turrents- blocks your aegis placement.
  • Sky Cades and Vent Cade-useless to utilize the strategy
  • OBJ Maps- waste of points
  • Placing your own planks- You will get forced away from your boards when you place them on the wall. You will phase through you boards ans be prevented from doing anything if you are on your boards.
  • Kleiner Cades-.................................................................

Extra skills

  • Press c to go in third person mode and view all your board's health in the increased view range.

Why do it?

You don't have to make the cade. Also, to make games more tactical and fun when situations gets chaotic. Also used to make a hopeless situation for the zombies more hopeless (trolololololololol)

really nice guide. i've honestly never tried this strategy. while it may not be the most profitable, it sounds like a great support strategy that can come in handy for some of those map scenarios where humans die in the last ~minute or two on round 6.

another thing i've noticed is that it seems that aegis have a decent immunity to the zombine explosion and don't take a significant amount of damage from it. this can help keep the zombines futher away from the actual cade and decrease overall damage to the main cade.

most of the time if i ever do get aegis, i'll end up just placing boards one after another as they break. the micro managing of removing and repairing is a bit too much work and not enough benefit IMO.
