QuantumXYZ
I have been thinking about this for a while now. I have two parts that I want to upgrade, but don't know what to upgrade first. Budget: I can take high end, but within reason. I don't want people to suggest something that cost over $2,000. I have an i5 9600k and or my evga rtx 2070 XC Ultra. I can get the funds, just got to sell some stuff and get a paycheck. Any suggestions? P.S. I get that what I have is high end, but I only play games in 1080p so I can get higher frames. Some games I play can't reach my 144hz limit and I want it to.
Knoxtane
I would upgrade the CPU and GPU, if you are really wanting to reach higher frames. So, first, hear me out. I think you should sell your 2070 and buy an AMD RX 5700XT it gives +14% performance on top of your 2070, plus if you upgraded to an i7-9700k or i7-9900k you could reach even more frames because the higher clock speeds on more cores. If you can. go for i7-9700k and RTX 2080 / RX 5700 XT they will both give about +14% performance increase. the 5700 XT is cheaper by almost $300 USD sitting at $399 USD where the 2080 is $695. Here are the compared stats between the EXPENSIVE 2080 and cheaper RX 5700 XT for the SAME performance. You're suggesting unnecessary upgrades. For a system with an i5-9600k + RTX 2070, there's no need to upgrade. It's not even a worthy upgrade to upgrade to an i7-9700k and an RTX 2070. You're better off waiting a few years till you can upgrade. If you want to upgrade now, get an i9-9900k with a good cooler, and you're set. Also, if you want a free upgrade, just overclock your CPU/GPU. However, you'll need good cooling for that.
