Eric
A brand new level of staff? What is HGCE Mentor? HGCE as a whole department has grown exponentially in the past year. From at one point only two staff, a director, and one executive split between the teams to now a total of eighteen leadership and four partnered community ambassadors! We have no plans of stopping the growth either which is why now the Leaders of HGCE, Alienware, and I present to HG the Staff Mentor role. HGCE Mentor was named "Senior Staff" for a few weeks before we decided to take a different approach to the position. We wanted to create something that people would look to for advice, console, training, and more ways to help their respective team(s)...not just a rank with more access. Tell me more about obtaining the role of Mentor The mentor role is a position between the rank of HGCE Staff and HGCE Leader that is awarded to a team member who has contributed 6 or more months to a respective team. Not all staff will receive this role either due to refusing the offer or through not maintaining the expectations of CE staff. When in need of a mentor, team leaders look for someone with experience, activity, good judgment, patience, consistency, honesty, and a strong devotion to the team. What are the perks of Mentor? HGCE Mentors receive multiple perks for taking on the responsibilities of the position: A special member title (HGCE Staff Mentor (team name), forum group with new color (click to see), special private forum access, a private HG leadership discord channel, and a new in-game tag [CEM]! HGCE Mentors also have team-specific perks such as event staff mentors now having the authority to approve their own event proposals for their respective divisions. HGCE Mentors have access to view and comment on HGCE Staff applications. Since staff who have obtained this rank will be working more closely with their team leaders it only made sense to have them assist in staff promotions with their many months/years of CE experience. Previously HGCE Leaders were promoted by a recommendation of a current CEL or HGCE Director+, but with the implementation of mentor, staff who are interested in leader must first be awarded and accept mentor, have sufficient training, assist the current CELs+ and show leader qualities before being considered for the team leader. This ensures that whoever is being considered for a team leader is completely prepared for the responsibilities of the position. What are the responsibilities? It is in the name "Mentor." Upon accepting the offer you have the option of being trained to become a future HGCE Leader. Tasks such as staff promotions, staff training, team management, communication with other departments/teams, and more is taught to give them the best opportunity possible at becoming a future team leader. As stated above this training is optional. A CE Staff who is awarded the role of a mentor but formally rejects CEL training may stay in the mentor position with all normal perks but will not have the opportunity of HGCE Leader until they request for CEL training. Who are the current HGCE Mentors? Check here! A quick message from the Leads of CE: Don't hesitate to put in an HGCE Leadership application if you are interested in a team. We are always looking for new faces who want to help give back to the community.
