Rudabaga
What are some common items that absorb heat / light? My project is, I have to get a closed box. Place it in the sun. Try to make it the hottest out of the class.

Slazenger
Copper and aluminum are good conductors. Dark colors. Glass. Get a glass box(or cardboard), place it on black metal/slate with black cardboard/metal/slate or something placed around it with like 6 inches between the cardboard/metal/slate and the glass box and leave an opening where the sun is coming from. TexasTormenture
http://www.jc-solarhomes.com/fair/science%20project_hotbox.htm Clearly tin-foil inside of the box. Dark colors. And apparently extra layers of cardboard? Its worth a shot. You'll get an A for effort.

Cefdinir
Anything that is painted black for heat absorption. A conductor to transfer the heat like copper, nickel, or gold plated metals and an insulator to keep the heat inside like sand, fiberglass, rocks, etc.

Soccercrazy
Get a pizza box cut a 5''x5'' hole at the top. Put an even layer of sand at the bottom of the box. Put a piece of aluminum foil on top of the sand. Spraypaint the entire box black(except the foil). Not sure about the results, but I'm pretty sure I saw it in a book a few years ago.
