I get told by some council members that I should warn people who are being racist, then I get chewed out by certain individuals for not permabanning right away. Some admins permaban mic spammers on the spot after warning, while others temp ban as a final warning. What do we do? It's very frustrating to be berated by multiple people for the decisions I make as an admin and it would clear up confusion if we were to make up an all-inclusive rule set. It's become confusing to admins and players alike. I banned a bunch of racist nicks today, perma for the ones that were simply offensive and temp bans for the ones that just had ni**a in them without an insult. And apparently people are upset with that. So can we please come to an agreement on how we deal with situations, post it up on the forums, and then make sure all admins follow that guide?' Thanks! Edit: Also, should we leave it as bans of two hours or less do not need a report/proof or should we go back to all bans require proof and a report? If we required posts, admins would be less likely to make bans out of sheer laziness but we would have fewer abusive bans where people ban for two hours because they don't like someone or for an illegitimate reason. Clark Posted March 13, 2010 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Here are my big rules. Racism. In any form. It has always been a perm ban on sight or sound. Instant and permanent. The player can then come onto the site and ask why they were perma banned. That way we can confront the situation in the open and correct the behavior. Porn sprays. I believe that is up to the admin. CP=insta ban and report. I would hope that any admins that are in a server with someone spraying porn they would take into consideration the age of some players who are there. I will usually warn first just to get it out into the open. If it goes unheeded, perm ban. Again they can come onto the site and ask us why. Mic spammers. I will always warn first. If it continues, I will ban. Depending on the severity of the problem it may be a perma. All bans...with the exception of KAC can be lifted with the proper behavior in the asking for an unban. If you heard someone say it, but you did not have a demo of it, would you still perma ban? or would you do a temp ban? or would you just try to get a demo of him next time...? OK, an admin could say to the offender, "Please refrain from using any racist comments on HG servers". Someone who doesn't care, will say something else. Be demoing.
