Hello every1!! im back, sorry i was gone, had to move twice!.

Any-who, me and my roommates are trying to decide on which internet to order for the house. We are college students so we don't have alot of money, we are ripped between DSL and Cable... DSL is cheaper but is (rumored) to be slower... Cable is alot more expensive but supposedly faster...We are all gamers and care deeply about our interwebs... ive done some research and asked my IT professor at school but i keep getting scrambled answers...

is there really much of a speed diff between DSL and Cable?!?!?! Experiences?!?!?! is it worth the extra 20-40 bucks a month for Cable?!?!?!

let me know!

If you can afford it, It is defintly worth the extra money.

I have cable internet. Cox Communications. According to this website: http://ww2.cox.com/residential/oklahomacity/internet.cox

The max speed I can see on the website, is 25mb. I ddoubt you can afford it, but as you can see, it tops the DSL connection.

According to ATT's DSL website: DSL Providers - AT&T High Speed Internet Access - Broadband Internet - Residential

"Downstream up to 6.0 Mbps." <------- That is the max you can achieve.

And with all the lag on CS:S these days, a DSL connection wont cut it. So I vote Cable.

Oh, and Welcome Back.

Besides download speeds, Cable will give you much lower ping in online games compared to DSL. I "had" at&t's DSL added when I got TV service because it was cheap and my pings were in the 90's. I turned off the DSL internet and stuck with my Cable internet where my ping is in the 50's.. There was nothing at&t could do about the ping problems being nearly double after talking with their support. You get what you pay for.
