**Roy** Posted August 13, 2010 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Everyday we go to work/school/whatever, and after a hard day we just want to relax, so as soon as we get home we turn on our computers, and we play, we play in one of the 33 HG servers, we joined HG, and we are part of it, even if we know it or not, theres is a bunch of people making everyday playing possible, there is a bunch of people making our stay here possible, but, do we ever ask ourselves WHAT HAVE I DONE FOR THE COMMUNITY?, what have i done to make this place better?, I am going to tell you something, I asked that question myself today, and i realized, I HAVE DONE NOTHING, of course, i have submitted a couple of videos of hackers, admin abuses and stuff, i have started funny threads, i have replied to funny threads (everyone has), but post count doesn't help the community, now, instead of asking WHAT HAVE I DONE? I am going to ask myself, WHAT CAN I DO? everyday until i can say something that makes me feel better, what can I do to help my gaming community today, how can i repay the hours of distressing gaming, how can i repay you the time i have been here? MONEY is a good way to express your love or simple appreciation for this community, but what if you can afford to donate? (like me), I created this thread so I can know what can i do for the community instead of a donation i can offer my time to do something, let me/we/us/they know what can me/we/us/they do so they feel useful even if me/we/us/they can't donate. But I feel the exact same way first of all! I love gaming and I love this community but sometime's I get burnt-out on playing CSS and TF2, server-surfing a couple hours each night. That's when I feel this urge that ur talking about to help out, cause I read through the forums and all the news and think to myself "well I wonder what I could do to help?" I love being a part of a gaming community as organized and highly respected as the HG, and I am honestly proud to be a part of it. But i know what u mean about wanting to really BE a part of it. So I'm with u. I'm willing to do whatever, whether it be in game or out of game, I have some skill's, (not a complete retard). So Homer, if there is anything to do, I would love to be a part of it to give back. Sometimes that's just as good a feeling as dominating like 5 people at once in game!! In all seriousness, here is a fail list of items I thought up that might be considered contributing to the community. INCOMING WALL OF TEXT PANIC!!! Financial Contributions Donating Money - The HG warmachine requires funds to run a server empire the size of Rome, five dollars wouldn't be too much to help out with the bills? Buying a VIP package - Paying for benefits. Purchasing Admin - Do you know the server rules like the back of your hand? Are you mentally capable of handling the responsibilities of admin? Does injustice in the servers piss you off. If so, then this might be for you. Social Contributions Being active in the community - This could be in forums/vent or ingame on a hg server. Being helpful and friendly as to the best of your ability. - Give hg servers a good reputation. No one wants to be around cocky fags from some basement in Chicago. Being a good admin - This one is a mix of all the above. A good admin doesn't catch all the cheats/haxxors/freekillers nor does s/he bend over backwards for players on the server. A good admin is playing the game and showing fa****s the door when they burst in. I'm not sure what makes an admin "good", so that is my guess. Report rulebreakers on forums - Getting rid of the bad apples is an easy place to start. Make sure to follow the required templates for abuse/ban/tlist reports and provide substantial/crystal clear evidence to support your accusations. Other Contributing maps - I think Crosshair is looking for maps for The Hidden server. The minigames server might be open to moar maps. This is what I could think of of the top of my head.
