ttaM
Avast has a voice-controlled AI that screams at you when it updates. -
Linoleum Knive
I use AVG and it works really well for free.

In the majority of cases, AVIRA and Avast kicked AVG's butt... Personal Choice: AVIRA I would have actually gone with ESET, Kaspersky or Avira but I happened to have decided to try AVIRA and to see what will happen. =/

Mike is Fr3sh
AVG pisses me off, it crashes Crysis 1.21.
GoCrzy
I use Avast, but I'd suggest checking out this Maximum PC article for more info on all of the options: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/protect_your_pc_from_guys_like_this According to them, Norton Internet Security is the best of the best, but it also costs money. For free, they choose avira, and I have been considering switching over but I am also extremely lazy...
Cr(+)sshair
ESETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT...they hire people who've gone to jail for hacking and so on to develop crazy good updates.

Papa John
Kaspersky all the way, if you have the money, its the best out there (The Internet Security Version).
Kiri-Jolith
Personally, I prefer avast. I have however had a little experience with avira and they seem to work pretty close to the same performance levels. Stay away from AVG, it may be good but it misses a ton of things. Bob the Android Penguin
I like avast. The latest version made the interface much easier to use, so you can easily disable the annoying "VIRUS DATABASE HAS BEEN UPDATED" sound. The voiceover in the latest version isn't as annoying, but.... Just disable voiceovers in the settings. Pic of Avast Today Personally, I use it with Microsoft Security Essentials and the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
desKrriado
Personal Choice: AVIRA Best choice, Avira is really good. I use Avira too.

ttaM
Just wondering, the people who are talking about AVG are you using Free or the Pay version?
Soccercrazy
I personally use kaspersky, but if you don't have the money go with microsoft security essentials
Guest The_Monkey
The only people who pay for antivirus are the chumps who read security articles. In the field, Gerrit and I have done side by side tests on the random viruses that end up on our respective networks. The most notable recent one was worm similar to the antivirus 2009 goodie. AVG, security essentials, norton, and nod could not detect it....Avast did. Avast pro is for commercial use. The free version is perfectly adequate for normal users. If you do a lot of torrenting or file sharing, you should be testing the files in a VM anyways.
