LazaHorse
I find the current system to be working well, and the fact that one person can stop a song everybody else likes is just a byproduct of a necessary rule. It certainly won't ruin all your fun when the occasional player asks each song to be stopped, because that doesn't happen the majority of the time. A votemute, on the other hand, is likely to be abused and used on players with just annoying voices as well as those playing songs. Also, as a side note here, players technically aren't supposed to be using sound clips when it's not part of a game and there is somebody leading, even if it's in between orders. So if you're finding that a persistent problem as well, just be aware that it IS within an admin's rights to mute players doing that, whether it is annoying or not. racker16
jailbreak too quiet without hldj, votemute is just a over complicated solution to a stupid problem. tbh this whole thread is just bannanas and should never have goten past page 2. if someone doesent like the song being played, the person gets muted. hldj can be annoying enough, and at the same time it can be awesome enough to keep around. RageQuit
I can't see banning HLDJ entirely, especially since certain days are contingent upon or enhanced by its presence (i.e. chacha slide, sound clip trivia, 300, warday [if lead wants music or not]), but I would not be against tightening up its usage. I don't see one real day that is contigent upon or enhanced by its presence chacha slide day is incredibly pointless, its not even really a game. No one dies from that ever, only people that don't want to hear that horrid song. Sound clip trivia? Really? Sure, even though I've seen this done twice when the lead picks some random clip and no one gets it. There are a lot of types of trivia a lead can do, doesn't have to use hldj. 300, is 30 seconds of knife fighting is spamming your 3 minute song for 30 seconds really needed? Lastly, warday and judging by this thread, it's not needed or used to enhance by its presence.

I'm not really sure how you can define a "real day," since a day is based on the whim of the CT (or the skill of the rebels on T). Regardless, you're implying that HLDJ is the main source of spam on Jailbreak, which is not necessarily the case anyway. See: rebels screaming to rebel, CTs and Ts yelling over lead that they didn't hear the order, general idiots, people asking questions because they weren't heard in chat, and so on. Obviously, HLDJ can end up being abused in between commands, on wardays, and the like (for the latter instance, maybe make it so lead CT selects an option of music/no music [mute all incoming HLDJ]; if music is selected, maybe make it so that there is already a preset list of songs put into the server to be voted on or selected via vote by CTs/Ts), but I see it more as a resource that is welcome if utilized properly. If you want a few more uses of HLDJ that you may pick apart as you will: Pokemon fights, rap battles/American Idol days, pirate days, slow (or general) dance days inside big cage. To be honest, I don't really care whether you think the days are "real" or not, but the cumulative imagination of the CT and T teams can produce a variety of days that goes beyond enumeration with the use of HLDJ. If it gets abused, punish the users that abuse it, not everyone else who abides by the terms of its usage.

See: rebels screaming to rebel, Yes they use the brave heart clip of freedom, using HLDJ CTs and Ts yelling over lead that they didn't hear the order, Well they don't hear the order because of previous or from bomb/ other spammers general idiots, people asking questions because they weren't heard in chat, and so on. People asking questions because they weren't heard in chat? I don't know what you're trying to say here. If you want a few more uses of HLDJ that you may pick apart as you will: Pokemon fights, rap battles/American Idol days, pirate days, slow (or general) dance days inside big cage. Pokemon days don't need music its like 300 its knife fighting. Rap battles/American Idol days are mic oriented. Pirate days are usually (90% of the time) stories created by lead/someone else alive. Dance days, how does someone judge a t on their ability to dance. If it gets abused, punish the users that abuse it, not everyone else who abides by the terms of its usage. When 99% of the hldj users just spam their mics freely its easier to just ban the use of it than to give out individual punishment everytime. I really do not see the obsession of using HLDJ. If you really want to listen to music on a warday, I hear walmart sells cheap mp3 players.
Moose1234
Client-side muting. How does it work? But seriously, client-side muting seems like the best course of action if you dont like what someone is spamming. If they eventually become lead, unmute 'em. Done and done
RageQuit
Yes they use the brave heart clip of freedom, using HLDJ I've heard it used by no more than a few people, the most recent being a couple months ago. The past twenty or so times I've been in the server, the source has been clan members (aQ, Inmates, etc.) yelling over the lead as a means of a distraction and a loophole of "lead's not giving coherent orders." Well they don't hear the order because of previous or from bomb/ other spammers Bomb explosions overpowering the lead is rare; the bombs either are detonated purposefully away from the mass (a T looking to kill CTs) or are such by cause of a T disobeying orders (when the others are frozen). People asking questions because they weren't heard in chat? I don't know what you're trying to say here. I meant that people spam chat as well because they don't hear orders, not simply over the mic or via HLDJ. Pokemon days don't need music its like 300 its knife fighting. Rap battles/American Idol days are mic oriented. Pirate days are usually (90% of the time) stories created by lead/someone else alive. Dance days, how does someone judge a t on their ability to dance. Sure, a Pokemon day doesn't need music, but I personally am not too excited by the sound of just knives slashing. Rap battles have beats behind them, American Idol can function as karaoke, and 76% of statistics are made up. Dance days are similar to walk/crouch commands in that a T cannot, for example, jump, crouch, etc., based on the orders of the lead. When 99% of the hldj users just spam their mics freely its easier to just ban the use of it than to give out individual punishment everytime. So you condone punishing everyone for the misbehavior of a handful (as again, you're making a statistic that suits your argument)? That's like saying, "Yea, some kids cheated on a test, so we have to void the scores of everyone in the room despite knowing that those outside the cheating group did nothing wrong." I really do not see the obsession of using HLDJ. If you really want to listen to music on a warday, I hear walmart sells cheap mp3 players. Again, I'd be for allowing individual users to choose whether or not they hear music during a warday. However, your and my opinions alike are just a sampling of what the entire HG base feels, and it accomplishes little to argue about something over which we have no control. If anything, there should be an official thread (with a certain rank+ requirement) where we can make feedback that goes directly to the TC about this, as we stand on opposite ends of the spectrum about the use of HLDJ and middle ground seems unlikely between just the two of us. I hope that this may be resolved soon.
Bonbon
When 99% of the hldj users just spam their mics freely its easier to just ban the use of it than to give out individual punishment everytime. Yes. This is true. But! bottom line of this thread (I stopped reading after I last posted, that quote just happened to catch my eye), is that we will probably never completely ban HLDJ, as it is a key feature to our server. HOWEVER. We will continue to ban people (or mute for 5-15 rounds I guess) that spam HLDJ. Like traffic laws, we're cracking down. If you're spamming HLDJ. You WILL get muted. If an admin is constantly spamming HLDJ, please, come to the forums and we WILL take action. And especially people spamming over leads, big no no. Just because we will probaly never remove the feature, does not mean you can abuse it. Because it is sometimes hard to catch people mass spamming, it seems the best course of action is going to be hand out EXTREMELY SEVERE punishments to those people who we 100% catch nonesense spamming. GLHF, and please, use common sense. Not everyone wants to hear your silly songs, some times people like to talk.
