@first comment: the perceived intent of that chip was apparently to simplify providing health care services. In the past, people viewed this as a form of control (and technically it is), and I'm sure that hasn't changed.

There are a lot of theories out there purporting mind control or behaviour manipulation (including projects similar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKUltra).

If the RFID follows standard (like ASA or CSE), it won't be too much of a problem decompling how these chips work. Given that RFID is generally safe (with a few exceptions), it seems like a lot of this RFID is paranoid theorism and FUD.

I don't know, personally I wouldn't want a chip implanted in me if I didn't know what it did. I'd probably end up messin' around with it and break it.

In regards to the second, there IS ALOT of controversy on how you interpret revelations in the bible.

Even the number 666 can be contested: (some people believe it is actually 616) >.<

I'm not really into religion myself but interpreting revelations is always a fun one! =]

Didn't they already do this with dogs?

and cats, I think they were using it to track them to ensure that if one would get lost.. you could identify the pet(dog, cat) with an id (thus tracing back to owner).

it's like having a GPS active on the pet (passively or actively)

Playing devil's advocate, think of how this can reduce misidentification of patients, and incorrect dosing of medication errors. Verifying the chip against existing records could seriously reduce potentially fatal mistakes.

This IS a stupid conspiracy. Anonymous is stupid and they want to rebel against anything (I.e Facebook) Not gonna happen.

Plus quote the first amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Government cannot control what happens to us, as stated by amendment número uno.

an rfid chip that small does not have a range of more than a foot or 2, it would mainly be used for ID purposes like they do with lost animals, when a dog is brought into a shelter they scan it for one of those chips to find it's owner, you cant actually track someone with a chip that small

How does that have anything to do with control?

First amendment covers free speech, so you could bitch about how bad these RFID chips however you want and when you want.

It won't necessarily stop the government from making RFID chips mandatory.

That being said, if your religion explicitly rejects that then yes, of course, there may be dissension and allowance for not having the RFID mandatory.

Furthermore, Wingless said, it could be used for benevolent means but you're right, it could be perverted.

Actually, I DO know what they can do with an RFID chip, and mind control isn't one of those things. As soon as they go into production, bored hackers are going to take one of them apart and figure out exactly what information is, and can be stored on them, and whether or not any surprises are included.

Plus, you can pull your own data with an RFID reader. It's not black magic.

Ok i know what your saying but you think our government is always honest to us and tells us everything. There are multiple ways this can be used negatively and against the constitution. They could be tracking us illegally and totally bypass the 4th amendment, and we would have no idea, that invades alot of privacy, i dont want somebody knowing where i am all the time.

So, I carry around a card that has a smart chip in it, an RFID chip, 2 bar codes and a mag stripe, and I don't worry about it being picked up without my permission because of this handy sheath I have it in. I can also pull every byte of information off of it for inspection using commercial software. My level of concern is negligible.

Obamacare covers healthcare...

Obama is not the end of the world, and right wing bullshit like this truly bothers me.

Enigma: That's the point, so the Amish don't have to based on religion, this is where religion discrimination making place, some people HAVE to get it, others don't JUST based on religion, making it unfair. Me as a Jew, how do I get one if I can't use electricity on Shabbat?t

I'm just questioning how it has to do with trampling your right to complain about what it does.

It won't be a violation of the first amendment unless two things happen

a) There's a law that makes it mandatory for everyone, no matter the religion (in this case it violates the right of religious beliefs)

B) There's a provision in the law that makes it impossible for someone to scrutinise this law.

At the end of the day, it's not about first amendment rights. I would think this has more to do with human rights and freedom of choice.

In which case, I'd refer you to a simple example as: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100521123843AAWejnv

ok and why do you carry it around? to help you with your job right? what would be the point in having a chip implanted in us, why not just give us a card to? and why would we need to carry it around? we dont need to use it.. the government wants to make sure we get these for other reasons than just medical im sure. jajolt i know it covers healthcare but when he passed the bill it was also stated that we had to be chipp'd with a class 2 device. for what...medical purposes? thats some bullshit, why do we have records now and why not just keep it this way, why do we need chips is the point im asking.

Because I don't carry said card with me if I don't have pockets. If I don't have it on me, I probably don't have any other form of ID on me, so if I'm dying on the side of the road, nobody knows who I am, or what I'm allergic to. Having an implanted chip solves that problem. It's also not just ON you, it's IN you. It's a bigger hassle to forge, and you're not going to lose it.

Really, what everyone is considering your "right to freedom" is largely up to interpretation at any given time.

wtf is right to freedom?

Based on my understanding of the Bill Of Rights, these are rights GUARANTEED by the government not GRANTED by the government. I never see a mention of right to freedom? Are you talking about the right to movement, if so, as far as I know... having an RFID in you doesn't impede movement?
