New Computer Build

So since I won the contest, I'm going to start spec'ing out a build for the computer I'm going to put the video card into. I wanted to get some input from the community on current hardware. So I figured I'd throw out a few small topics and we'd let it go on from there.

Processor: AMD or Intel

Cores: How many are sufficient?

Memory: How much?

OS: Which version of winblows?

Power Supply: How much power?

Currently I'm leaning towards AMD, probably something like this. I'm thinking probably 4-8gb of memory. I'll probably pirate a version of windows 7 64 bit.

First, what exactly are you going to be doing with the computer? What type of software are you going to use, games you're going to play?

BOOOO BOOO HISSS

Just kidding, congrats on winning.

Since you won the 670, I would say a 850 - 800 PSU, Corsair is a good brand.

I would go with the latest AMD 8 core, but look around at reviews yourself. Here is a good one.

I was going to put 16GB into my build, but since the CPU cooler overlapped one of the slots, I just put in 12GBs. 12GBs is fast and works fine, and I could have gone with 8GBs. I would go between 8-16GBs. You can find good, corsair 16GB RAM for under $100.

I wouldn't get anything under what the chart below says, because BF3 is one of the higher end games, and it would be like spending your money to buy a 5 year old CPU. It will work, but you would be wasting your money.

Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU

RAM: 4GB

Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950.

Graphics card memory: 1 GB

Sound card: DirectX compatible sound card

Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
