Jailbreak lead asking for rep

so its been popping up more and more for a lead to say "whoever gives me the most rep gains XXXX prize"

HG/admins will always be given more rep in this situation as they are figureheads.

seen a couple guys do this and gain 1000 rep in seconds. which is a huge advantage over any other player.

personally i think its a bogus thing to do. but there is no rule against it that i have found.

its kind of like a politition saying give me the most money, and ill vote for whatever you want.

i dont like the idea of being able to do this as it can give you the same amount of points it would normally take days to acquire, in just seconds.

but if its allowable ill exploit the hell out of it.

still have not gotten a definitive answer on whether or not this is an acceptable action or not.

its kind of a grey area, as its not a whole lot different than asking a question then giving the first person answer a prize.

since its a grey area its more up to you guys on how you want to run the server.

You'd have to wait for Bonbon or JayJayKay to give an official ruling.

Personal thoughts about this thread: (mind you this is a very direct look at what you said)

This is a virtual currency, which can be bought and used to purchase things. They spend their real life money on Rep.

It is not in YOUR right to tell people what they do with it. If they want to give it to the day's lead, sure, let them. You can certainly discourage them but we won't, seeing as it is their rightfully earned rep.

I don't like how we're drawing parallels to politicians, this won't leverage your position in HG for having more rep :P

Again, I repeat, this is VIRTUAL currency.

Nothing about this other than the fact they're using money to buy it is an inherent problem.

Now granted, if every lead started doing it every round, then we'd have a problem. We can change and adapt rules as we need to if that is the case.

I've seen in jailbreak some leads do it at times but it's not unreasonable. Perhaps I don't play enough (And thank god I don't >.<)

As far as I can tell, I don't see an issue with lead asking for rep AS LONG AS there are no positive or negative consequences for not giving lead rep.

A positive consequence would be something like, it would add difficulty for you to get to lr.

A negative consequence would be like, you get killed right away.

Obviously the above two statements are quite vague and are interpretive at most.

So for instance, if lead asks for rep and guarantees someone with LR for giving rep, then that would be a nono.

This thread could be suspiciously turning into rule 9 but I won't say that yet >.<

This thread has already been created before, but the verdict was pretty much what enigm said.

And the ruling was: If ANYONE lead or not accepts rep of even doesn't accept rep, and that action leads to preferential treatment/favouritism it IS and ALWAYS has been against the rules.

IE, if lead says "gimme 100 rep" and then if whoever gives the lead the rep is given treatment, such as a free day, or the power to chose which day the rest of the Ts do, it IS FAVORITISM and you CAN be punished.

That being said, it might just happen that this will become banned all together. I've been contemplating a "no begging" rule lately, because it gets tiresome EVERY round havin at least 1 person beg for rep.

If i do it i usually say if you give me XXXX rep you will get a freeday. If i was a terrorast i would have no problem with this.

That is DEFINATELY against the rules and ALWAYS has been.

It is classified as favoritism.

It's the same as me doing "Oh, I like this guy, so uhh he can have a freeday but no one else can."

Tbh, I see people asking for rep constantly and if I have the rep, I usually give it to them to be nice. I never use my rep but to donate to aQ and I ask for nothing in exchange. If you implement this "no begging" policy, then that deters people from asking altogether which can avoid a lot of spam but that's what warning/muting/gagging is for. If you tell people "you can't ask for rep anymore", that's like taking out the entire <!giveplayer XXXX XXXX> command and I think that's kinda ridiculous. It's apart of the mod (which I really don't even care for anyways) and it kinda "hurts" the people who give the rep to others because the admins not only have to look out for beggers but will then also be needlessly bickering at people who give rep to others just to be nice like I do and, being an admin myself, I know how frustrating it is dealing with people already. We don't need something else to be watching for if we can help it. I agree with the no favoritism rule because that's obviously banned and it takes away from the other players' experience but don't enforce the "no begging" policy. It'll just cause even more needless drama and the spamming can be controlled easily. But that's just my 2 cents. Thanks.

And you are wrong. If I was a terrorist and I saw you doing that to someone else, I'd be pissed. That takes away from not only MY round but EVERYONE ELSE'S round because that's A) One less spot for LR we have to compete for and B) It makes us feel like less important and less appreciated as a person than they are. That's why it's called favoritism. Lol. Just saying.
