Reapz Build - Would like Opinions

I know I contacted a few people about building a computer. I appreciated the people who helped me out but I am looking for some opinions for better parts before I purchase them.

This is my current build idea:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156078

mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130839

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148543

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148725

OD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135224

Edit: I have an updated build list below (post # 11)

Possible Ideas:

SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167120

Mouse and Keyboard (need suggestions).

Possibly a monitor (if the build price stays reasonable).

Better GPU (drop SSD and Current GPU), put money towards newer one

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130833

I probably will not be overclocking anything so I will stick with stock CPU cooler for now. The case is a maybe, I definitely like the fold out mobo side but that could also be a pain in the ass (disconnecting things before opening it and such). The GPU, I noticed that it was a little feller (not an issue) and was wondering if that would be able to support a dual monitor set-up. Also, look at extras for possible ideas. I would like to be able to upgrade the computer later on in life, like adding a second GPU to run in SLI or add a SSD for faster boot time.

All opinions are welcome.

Also if someone could tell me the difference between Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge architecture that would be appreciated. I believe there is a thread on the forums but I still don't understand the difference. Also, in your honest opinion, should i update the cpu to an ivy bridge? Um, i think that is all. Thanks for the help.

Really solid build, only thing i dont like is the case. When i first saw the case i fell in love, upon doing some research i found that the case is absolutely terrible for airflow. Grab an antec (900) or CM case, even thermaltake has some decent mid towers now.

As far as the GPU goes, its great for a budget build but it would be a good idea just to grab the 660. Other than that, good job!

The difference between sandy bridge and ivy bridge isn't much, and for the price difference the 2500k will do fine in any situation.

Ok, so I have a few cases in mind now (4 to be exact).

First up is the Cooler Master HAF 922. (seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197)

I see there is room for additional fans on the side. I just would have to figure out what size, possible added benefit to keep PSU/GPU area cool?

Second is the Antec 900 Two V3. (seen here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129097)

Also includes support for 2 additional fans.

Third is the Thermaltake Armor A90. (seen here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133176)

Support for additional fan on side. Don't like the flip-open door, needs to be open if ANYTHING is plugged in.

Fourth is the Antec DF-35. (seen here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129088&Tpk=N82E16811129088)

Looks like additional support for side fan.

Ok, consider it done. Thanks for the help with the cpu. I will just stay with the 2500K then.

I have a 'Cooler Master HAF 922" and my shit never gets hot; with a overclocked intel i7 2600k

I was like dam that looks like a sexy case. Then i noticed the extra bump on the top and was like, huh? I didn't see that in the pictures on newegg. But I understand now, that BUMP would be your phone... lol.

Okay, so, going through this part by part.

Case: It's already been said, but go with a cooler master. For a budget on cases look here but if you can drop a bit of money something to think about is This

Motherboard looks good.

GPU

Here's the thing, you have a really nice GPU, but, I'm afraid you might bottleneck. What happens basically is that the GPU can't perform at the level of the CPU and so then the CPU performance drops.

$220 processor = a gpu worth about $220

CPU looks good.

Good ram but this is considered one of the best on the market. It's 3 bucks more.

Good PSU

HDD will be slow due to less RPM.

HITACHI :D

It's what I have. Almost silent and really fast.

Good stuff tho

You link glasses for the gpu, and it wont bottleneck.

I still think a 660ti would be a good choice, it will out perform a 570 easily, and almost even with a 580.

I agree with the ram, but the HDD not so much. I have a hitachi, kinda blows. They're rep isn't amazing either

The only issue I have with the current build is your choice in HDD, other than that your build looks solid.

Go with the 1TB WD Caviar Black, it's on SS for $79.99.

Western Digital leads the industry in storage media.

Regarding your ideas for mouse/keyboard and monitor: I would recommend the Razer Deathadder and Razer BlackWidow or Deathstalker.

As for a monitor, anything from Asus, LG or Samsung would satisfy.

caching RAM over a HDD would probably yield better performance for the typical stuff.

I've seen that enough to know (can anyone say 24 Gbps performance for sequential reads and writes)?

SATA III specification limits most hard-drives and SSDs to 6 Gbps. PCI-E x1 (per lane) at 8 Gbps.

Personally, I'd say if you can't afford the SSD, add some more RAM in your system and cache a good chunk of it. You'll be happier than spending more money paying a premium for a hard-drive.

I have a 3 TB hard-drive with transfer rates that exceed SSD's performance (think 1.2 Gbps or more) because most of the operations are cached in memory than written back when the system is not as busy.

Bandwidth however isn't everything, if you want reliability you also have the complexity of hard-drives themselves. I've heard great things about WD/Seagate for the most part. Hitachi and Samsung I've had mixed personal experiences however good experiences outside of it.

Ok, I could have swore that I had a 64MB cache version of that HDD when i posted the link. oh well, it was pretty late. I have updated my wishlist on Newegg to incorporate it. AHHH, looking at my wish list, I have this Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache for my HDD. I will probably get the WD Black HDD.

The keyboard, mouse, and monitor will have to wait for the time being. My standard logitech keyboard and mouse are fairly new and I can get a few good months out of them.

As for you enigma, you will have to help me with this caching thing... lol. I might know some of my technical specs for computers but when it comes to manipulating it and overclocking, I am a noob.

Would this Corsair Vengence 32GB (4x8GB) be sufficient? Now, would there be a significant decrease in performance if the memory kit was tri-channel instead of the cpu supported dual channel?

Thanks again for the help guys. I appreciate everyone that helped me before and after I posted this thread.

z77 is dual channel set up xD

so it'll be fine

32 GB IS ALOT. You could probably get away with 16 GB (cache 8) and you'd be fine still

In regards to the caching aspect, use something like FancyCache.

Works well, (it's a trial/beta software, so you gotta reinstall every 180 days xD) I'm fine with it for the most part, it does wonders for copying files back and forth.

The only issue I'd see is if your software interacted at the low level (near the HAL/kernel), it may bypass FancyCache's driver and actually use the typical access mechanism.

I can make a graphical tutorial if you want. Should help!?

you might get memory starved for extremely demanding games (but that would be a rarity or almost a never-occured circumstance).

? I run Hitachi and it's silent and really fast. The same one, I think.
