Too bad there's no backwards compatibility, it's a shame Sony hasn't made this a priority in newly released consoles.

I feel as if a majority of people that will get a next gen console don't care about backwards compatibility. I mean, if you really want to play older games get that system. If you want to play PS3 games then keep your ps3. Personally, I think it's not that big of a deal we are moving into the future not going back in time

I agree with you in the respect that it's good that companies are advancing in their technology but I always like to sell my old system to slightly cover the cost of the new one. Being able to use old games on a new console would be nice because you I could consolidate my collection of games onto one system if not just for the sake of conserving space and not having to have two separate consoles.

Also, think about the difference in the tech between PS3 and PS4 No more Cell processing in PS4 so even if they wanted to the games wouldn't work

So the the PS4 isn't capable of reading bluray discs? Or is the data stored on the PS4 discs different then the data on PS3 discs?

The PS4 is going to be blu-ray and will spin 3x the speed of the ps3 blu-ray, the problem is though the games developed for PS3 were developed using the Cell processing technology, the PS4 will no longer use Cell processing
