Future Of Games - Player Cap

Recommended Posts

I noticed a bad trend or a trend that I believe is bad - more and more mulitplayler games are having a less player cap. For example, from call of duty 1 there has been a 64 player cap to call of duty 4, but ever since newer call of duty versions are coming up, the cap is getting lower. Even if we look at Counter Strike it has always has been 64 but with counter strike global offenesis its only 54. What do you guys belive will they ever increase the player cap? As well would you guys want the player cap to increase?

With battlefield 3, I love having more players. But with some games, more players just creates more chaos. Some chaos is good in a game, but there has to be a limit. I think caps will continue to depend on the game developers and what the game developers want.

Wait...you think more games that are multiplayer have a smaller player cap? If we just talk pvp theres planet side 2, battlefield 3 (like earlier mentioned) and a MAG which came out a little while ago that had 126 vs 126. If anything games are getting bigger. If you want to talk MMO games that are just pvp then they get massive.

And I HATE IT. The bigger the game, the less strategy I find in it. 50 people fighting against another 50 people and everyone is just doing their own thing and ignoring their teammates. The only thing that sort of holds it together is making a game class based like battlefield 3 and planet side 2 did so well. They made it so you have a medic to heal his team mates, assault to fight, engineer to fix their vehicle and a sniper to watch from far away. Otherwise I just seeing games go down hill.

(Btw COD was a horrible reference)

Trust me, I'm not a fan of Call of Duty buy I used it as a referenes because the ornigal call of duty 4 had options to creat mods and to create tacticts. This also had daily scrims, that's why I used it as a refereences. The newer call of duty's coming out are terreible that have no tactics at all but I'm talking about the call of duty that came out in 2007. Yeah, I sorta get all of your points more players more choas, less control, and some games coming out are massive muliplayer. But if we looking the past it was more focused on PC games, now but sadly it's more foucesd on console games. Which makes the pc version crappy because it doesn't allow you to mod as much as in the past.
