Verbal Abuse

Hey i've been playing Team Fortress two for quite some time and decided to become a gold member. I'm new to the whole admin thing so wanted to ask a question. If a player is verbally abusing another player through the chat, you give him a warning right? and so on. If it continues then you would kick him? My question is though, if you were to kick the player after already warning them about their attitude, and they report you saying "awh it was unfair... awh I didnt even see the warnings" etc etc etc, how can you then provide evidence to say "yes you said this, here is where I warned you, you continued" etc

Appreciate some info on this please as I don't really know how it goes :)

Basically exactly what you've said.... make sure you have a demo and screencaps of console (showing you warned). If they don't heed your warnings, then kick and then if absolutely necessary ban them and post your proof in the ban report.

No one should be ostracized from playing here. These are Christian servers, after-all.

Thanks :) so i'll gather evidence so that if the player does report it I have evidence but do I need to report the "kick" myself whenever I feel the need to kick a player? Because with bans, you have to report and provide evidence

Thanks :)

No need to report your kicking of a player from the server. I always keeps screens and demos of everything I do, just in case they want to be a toughie and make an abuse report.

Great thanks for your help, appreciate it :)

Just one more thing. Say for example a player was abusing another, (say the players name is Carl) the command to kick would be !kick Carl verbal abuse of another player.

Is that exactly how I should type it in the chat bar? This is the way it was written in one of the tutorial posts

Sorry i'm still learning :P

!kick Carl "Verbal Abuse"

Reason needs to be in "quotations" otherwise it will only say the first word in the kick message.

I would also mute/gag/silence before you kick. That's just me personally. Procedure is Warn Kick Ban... but usually if you throw a mute in there you can stop it that way or they will leave on their own.

There are four very good threads below you can check out.

This is a great point and one I neglected to cover. He's right... go the route of muting/gagging them before kicking them. I do this and 9 times out of 10, this will get their attention enough that they'll stop. If not, kick and then ban are your next two steps.

I don't use TS3 but I understand that there's a Helpdesk and leadership there to assist. If you have a question in game, hop on there and ask one of them... I know they're pretty good about jumping in to a game with you to see what's going on and offering you help with a situation or they can handle it themselves.

BTW.... thanks for asking the question.

We prefer typed warnings because you can screencap them and they are solid, there, and they cant say they didn't understand.

If you're on a mic, just type the warnings. Use admin all chat or private chat

all chat @ Message

Private chat @@name message

https://hellsgamers.com/topic/83356-admin-training-guide-for-tf2-servers/

I always try to screenshot or demo the initial event, screenshot the warning, keep demoing the second event, screencap the kick, and then demo the third event and post the proof.
