Budget 1000-1500 (Give or take $200-300) 2. Brand preferences AMD, Intel 3. What do you plan to do with the machine? Gaming mostly, Maybe some video/picture editing . Would prefer to run things in High or ultra settings 4. Is there a place where you'd like to get the parts from?. newegg/tigerdirect. 6. Do you plan to overlock? yus 7. OS Preference? Also 5760x1080p... lol @ those framerates. Also if you really want to "max out" (whatever that means) your framerate, get the 780Ti (200$ more to your budget) or SLI 780s ( the latter being cost prohibitive) --------------------------------------- Any Haswell i5 -> i7 series will be fine for you... higher clocks the better i5-4670 being top tier for what you plan to do PSU -> if you're thinking of upgradeing for future purposes, please get at least 700 Watts. Motherboard -> Don't skimp on this... brands to look out for ++ are Asus, Gigabyte, ASROCK (personally Asus has served me well but I don't see any issues with Gigabyte or ASrock) Memory -> Since DDR4 is just starting production, go for clock rates of DDR3-2400+ (besides the Intel based processors don't like anything more than 1600 technically) 4 - 8 GB minimum although I don't see why you would need more than 16 GB if you only plan to game. Case -> Aesthetics is minimal to me so I don't really care about cases to be exact however, Thermaltake, LianLI (expensive Dx) and CoolerMaster have served me well in the past Also look at mid-size or large size if you plan to use the GTX 780; most of them have a length of about 10" and some mid-size cases don't like that. (Ask Blackbelt about having to put A GTX 670 into a mid-size tower case ) PowerSupply - Thermaltake, Silverstone to name a few minimum 750W / 80plus Gold is a nice thing (personal part) SSD / HDD -> Personal preference but I'm on board with Samsung SSDs (such as the EVO or 840 Pro) You really shouldn't need more than 256 GB in SSD space unless you plan to install everything on it. 2-4 TB space is pretty cheap... better if you can RAID it Optical drive: meh nothing really special required..
