youthedog
Your problem is not with VTFEdit; it's with windows itself: somehow, some of your system files got corrupted/changed and it could be a million reasons as to why it happened. One of the reasons could be the .NET framework or the Visual C++ redist that you mentioned in your post. Many people reported success after uninstalling .NET and VC++ completely from the control panel, then installing them in sequential order (Microsoft Visual C++ 2005/SP1/2008/SP1/2010) and lastly making sure windows update is fully updated. However, if this doesn't solve your issue, then you need to run "system file checker" utility as administrator to scan your system files and fix/replace as necessary. This Microsoft should help you perform this maneuver on windows 7 (assuming this is your OS). http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-sound/this-application-failed-to-start-because-side-by/7673bf12-87c2-48ca-b5ae-b8aa85e295dc Hope this works and things get sorted out Will2k
