Sarcastic Lemon
I need a new keyboard because the one I have is old and sucks. I have a price range of $30-$50 and my only requirement is that it has a backlight (not really into fancy colors). Any suggestions? I will be using it for gaming obviously. fried84
ive never used it but its in your price range. there isnt much that cheap for a gaming backlit keyboard you need to spend just over 100. http://products.ncix.com/detail/e-blue-mazer-type-g-internally-f9-91172-1360.htm

BranHorse
I usually hate Thermaltake anything, but for you to get a mechanical keyboard (which you want) you need to spend a little more than 50. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823162029 They made a decent keyboard. Great reviews and you can probably find it cheaper. If you really cant get a mechanical due to money I would be willing to sell you my logitech g510 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126100. Only used for about 3 months, has been sitting in a box taking up space.

Magic
I've used a non-mechanical and a mechanical keyboard. Non-mechanical: http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Keyboards/ROCCAT-Isku/ Mechanical: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-keyboards-keypads/razer-blackwidow-ultimate Overall from my experience I really do enjoy the Razer Blackwidow ultimate. It has a much better 'feel' to it than my old keyboard. Then again, I haven't used as many mechanical keyboards as the others who posted above me, but just posting my 2 cents. BranHorse
not a big fan of anything from Tte or CM Same here. Tt is a brand I usually avoid at all cost. This is the exception.
BigJ
How loud is the blackwidow? What about the key travel? travel is like not even half, its loud if you are taking in ts3 with your mic on while typeing someone will hear it, overall very good key board this is one thing you will not break easy compare to the others i have even dropped soda in my DASkeyboard and still works like a champ(havent done that yet to the BW) but thats how they are made soooooooooooooo good

OP: You need to step up your price range. Not only will $50 not get you a mechanical (or at least a good one), but you should invest at least $80 in. Buy a new, name-brand one for like $80 so it lasts forever instead of some like $40 on Craigslist. http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=10035 I'm only going to recommend that one because I don't want to name off a bunch of ones on some top 10 website. I like this one by CM.

Watermelon Jackson
Ok, I don't know many specifications or brands/makes of keyboards, but what I DO know is this...try to get a keyboard with a media center capability, that is, that has a play/pause, stop, next, and back button on it for your media player...reallllly fun and handy when you're playing FPS games with music on and want to switch around tracks or even in MMOs and on your web browser too, saves you having to click around. captaincracker
Dude you can get an awesome backlit keyboard from walmart, gaming brand too. It's like $70 I think
Dingletron
Don't get a blackwidow it has Cherry MX Blue switches who are made for typing, not gaming, you should get a TtESports Poseidon with either Cherry MX Brown/Black/Red switches, and its backlight!
