UnPrePared_
I dont understand. Wont microsoft lose money if they give something for free? I think there is more behind this
iPhobia
Yes and no. Says they will leverage the cost of other services such as skype, office 365, and software assurances. Really its like playing a game on your phone for free, but in order to get all the cool stuff on it, you have to pay. Other services to include cloud subscriptions too. Shaman
Basically you will get the OS for free for first year (Once installed for life of machine according to MS) and you will end up paying if you decide to get the OS after the first year. They are able to do this because as stated they are making other things more of a subscription and will be charging for those services. They have already started this with Office 365. Really what this is by MS is a bid to phase out the other OS's that came before 10 and get everyone on one single platform so to speak. lebowski
its all about Direct x 12, and when and what they use those advantages for. software developers need to take advantage of it. DirectX 12 & Vulkan as Fast As Possible https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsxn93Wb7vk. as always. they make more money on console stuffs/shit. so we have to wait for the console games/system to catch up. maybe another five or ten years you can fully utilize direct 12. instead of having two or three have ass programs that utilize direct x 12. and yes... it only gets better. but consumer america will take its time and milk your wallet until we actually see something that is worth upgrading to. Short
maybe another five or ten years you can fully utilize direct 12 Many of the big engines already have internal builds that support dx12, I would say 6-12 months we'll see dx12 games.
