Snowyamur
Replaying a map should be player-determined Having a replay forced on players can be annoying, especially on s**t maps. Why not make it where players can vote "Yes" or "No" on whether to replay the current map when available? Doing this relieves players of replaying a map only to suffer some more. Earlier today, I was hearing talk about how busted the RTV system was when I was on the Zombie Survival server. Clearly, the RTV system is being exploited more to allow players refusing to play a map to chicken-out and change the map, but that's not the argument here. This topic is about how replaying a map works in Zombie Survival, which is something that caught more of my interest than the RTV problem. As many ZS veterans know, replaying a map becomes available should the humans [somehow] lose before 2:30 on Wave 3; any point after that opens up a vote screen that allows players to choose what map they want to play on next. Player-voting for the next map got me thinking, "What if replaying a map could be player-determined as well?" This makes sense since if we're on a map that's "s**t" to some players, they'll likely complain how busted the replay system is, how it sucks, and usually ask, "Why are we replaying this s**t?" Here's how the system works: Let's say the human team loses 20 seconds after Wave 3 starts. This is the first round of the current map, so there will be a 1-minute intermission before Round 2 starts, and there will be a replay. Rather than immediately forcing the map replay on the players, why not make it where a voting screen, akin to that used for map voting, shows up on the player's screen. A screenshot of the map shows up in the center, and above it reads "REPLAY?" by which the player can select "YES" on the left or "NO" on the right of the screenshot. The player will only have 15 seconds to make a choice, and if they haven't chosen when the timer is up, their vote won't count. After making or not making a decision, the vote screen closes off automatically, not telling the players how many voted for what, and the when the map reaches the last 15 seconds, the system will announce whether a replay is happening or not, thereby announcing the winner of the vote. Should the replay go through, the game will do the same thing it uncommonly does for replays: remove all players from the map and spawn them as human again in random locations. Should the replay not go through, an extra 30 seconds will be added to the timer and the map voting screen will be displayed. At this point, players can vote for the map they want as normal, and whichever wins by majority vote is the map that's going to be played next. Of course, a system like this could have some drawbacks. Trolls could vote "Yes" automatically to mess with people and make them suffer more on maps they don't like, or a**holes could vote "No" so that on the maps players do like and a replay is available won't be replayed because the a**hole-majority voted "No." There's also the possibility that a system like this could get out of hand when people are shouting in their mics or spamming in chat to vote "Yes" or "No" for a map replay, which can be problematic for our server Moderators and DLs to handle in terms of how irritable the text and voice chat will become during these moments, and possible outrage should everyone be gagged or muted. Nonetheless, this is a simple, yet flexible idea for all players when it comes to map replays, and it gives the player more control on whether they wish to play the map they were on again, or move on to another map. Let me know what you guys think about this. Edited April 15, 2019 by Snowyamur
